I was going to do a step-by-step guide for various model Lamps but looks like Samsung has already beat me to it!
http://product.samsung.com/DLPlight/DLPguideindex.html
The following link is good for the HLM, HLN, HLP, and HLR Series. Some of the lamp codes for these models are:
BP96-00224A, BP96-00224C, BP96-00224E, BP96-00224F, BP96-00224G, BP96-00224H, BP96-00224J, BP96-00224D, BP96-0022UE, BP96-00443A, BP96-00224B, BP96-00677A, BP96-00837A, BP96-00608A, BP96-00826A, BP96-01073A, BP96-01099A, BP96-01472A, BP96-01403A, BP96-01415A, BP96-01394A
There isn’t yet a guide for the new HLS series so you can expect us to provide a guide for the very soon.

Hi Bill,
You can view the installation guide we have created ourself at:
http://fixyourdlp.com/blog/?p=4
This guide doesn’t show how to locate your enclosure, but thaat should be fairly obvious by just looking over your TV set once.
Remember for your original Philips replacement lamps, the best source is: http://www.Discount-Merchant.com

I just bought one of those philips replacement lamps for my samsung 5063W.. The little bulb with the adapter works great. I ordered it from http://www.discount-merchant.com and I recieved it the next day. My TV turned on smooooooothly on the first try. Easy to install, and really makes a lot of sense. It seems like the vented lamp is a lot better design and with the retrofit adapter it’s a heavensent! I’ve been having to replace my bulb every year because the TV is on almost 24/7 and its been costing me a fortune. I’m glad I was turned on to you guys from another forum, then to discount-merchant from here! I can feel the TV lasting a lot longer already!

I have Samsung HLN617WX/XAA model purchased in 2003. So far I had to replaced the bulb 2 times and is out again.
It is suppose to last 5000 hours and it does not even last 2000 hours. Any suggestion to increase the life of the bulb?
Also, how to read (not reset) the counter which shows how many hours the bulb has been ON?
Thanks,
KP

K Patel,
We’ve got a mini-guide on maintenance tips for your DLP Lamp life. Here is the article:

I wonder if you’ve got a faulty ballast that’s causing the lamp failures…hard to tell, but let me know if you’ve applied the intuitive tips above.

jl,
It doesn’t really matter how you connect the terminals…you’re basically just completing the circuit

I am trying to replace my HLP4663WX lamp, it’s the kind with the adaptor. How in the world am I supposed to get the old bulb out of the housing and put the new one in there? The tutorial on this site seems to skip that part. What am I missing?
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

I have a Samsung HLP 5063 and also need to replace the cooling fan but I can’t figure out how to get to the fan. I found a guide on replacing it but my fan is in a different place (it’s to the front) than the guide for a similar Samsung. Any help info? Thanks, DC
