The importance of authentic
Find the best price for the Panasonic TY-LA1000 Lamp Enclosure. It’s important that you install an OEM lamp and avoid a generic, compatible lamp.
Knock-off, compatible generic lamps may seem like a bargain in the beginning. They actually cost more in the long run since they can damage the color wheel and ballast mechanisms in your RPTV. They also give off poor light, are prone to messy explosions and actually have a shorter life.
We recommend purchasing from an Authorized Philips dealer such as Discount-Merchant.com to insure that you are receiving a genuine Philips brand replacement lamp. Beware of knock-off and counterfeit Philips lamps floating around in the market.
There are also health concerns associated with these lamps. Generic lamps are made with toxic substances that can compromise your family’s health. Read more about the dangers of Krypton-85.
When you purchase an OEM replacement lamps you’re guaranteed the best lamp for your RPTV.

Panasonic TY-LA1000 TV Lamp Reset Procedure/instructions:
Per numerous members, it looks like this method works quite well:
- Hold the Vol down button on the TV and the Split button on the REMOTE for five seconds, -or- Press the Volume button on the TV while pressing hte SPLIT button on the Remote Control for five seconds
- It will NOT work if you try to do it both from your remote
Compatible Panasonics
This guide is compatible with the following Panasonic TVs:
PT43LC14, PT-43LC14, PT43LCX64, PT-43LCX64, PT44LCX65, PT-44LCX65, PT50LC13, PT-50LC13, PT50LC14, PT-50LC14, PT50LCX63, PT-50LCX63, PT50LCX64, PT-50LCX64, PT52LCX15, PT-52LCX15, PT52LCX15B, PT-52LCX15B, PT52LCX35, PT-52LCX35, PT52LCX65, PT-52LCX65,PT60LC13, PT-60LC13, PT60LC14, PT-60LC14, PT60LCX63, PT-60LCX63, PT60LCX64, PT-60LCX64, PT61LCX35, PT-61LCX35, PT61LCX65,
PT-61LCX65.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Be cautious of replacement “lamps” or “bulbs” for the TY-LA1000 sold without the enclosure housing. Typically, buying the lamp-only is okay, as long as the customer is purchasing an original lamp. Always stay away from off-brand bulbs manufactured by OSRAM, LTI, APO, or another third-party provider for your Panasonic TY-LA1000. When purchasing just the lamp itself (even an original), it can be a hassle unless you’re fairly good with a technician’s soldering iron.
Your original enclosure has the lamp cable connectors soldered from it’s terminals to the connector plug. When purchasing just the lamp alone, you will have to cut this connector and soldering it on your new lamp. Sounds confusing or difficult? It is… and until we make a kit for it, I don’t suggest anyone purchase the bare bulb only!
UPDATE 08/24/09 – We have the TY-LA1000 wire harness kit available fitted with the industries best lamp. No splicing cables, no electrical shock to worry about!
Now you can rest at ease with the purchase of the lamp kit or the complete enclosure. We still recommend the complete unit since you won’t have to worry about finding an extra long screw driver or messing with the elaborate cage for this TV. For the best price on the Pansonic TY-LA1000 (complete housing unit), click here.

I have a Panasonic PT-44LCX65. The bulb went out a few months ago. Could finally afford a new bulb and put in today. Followed all of the instructions in manual. When I turn on TV, green light flashes for about a minute, then changes to red light flashing. The lamp indicator starts flashing red every 5 seconds at the same time as on/off switch changes to red flashing. Nothing ever appears on the screen and TV switches off.
I have pulled out the lamp unit several times and reinserted always getting the same problem. I make sure the door is shut and locked each time, everything put back as I found it. I never had a problem with the TV in 3 1/2 years before bulb went out.
Any ideas?
Thanks…

Hi, I too have a pt44lcx65. My daughter has a habit of turning it on and off incessantly. Normally it just has to cool down long enough and will then start up normally.
Yesterday it wouldn’t turn on after that. I have the same code you do (Red Lamp light once every 5 seconds) I was about to order and change the lamp unit, but since I found your post I’d like to see if you’d found out anything? Judging by your experience changing the bulb will probably not solve my problem.
I checked the owner’s manual and it just says for this particular issue to contact a service center. Have you come to that yet?
Any ideas? Thanks a million.

Unfortunately it may not just be the lamp, but that’s the first place I’d start. If the lamp replacement works, great, if not, then it also might be a ballast issue. That’s a common thing that goes out on these TVs. Call DM customer service at (800) 281-8860 for some tech support before investing money into it. I’d recommend the entire lamp assembly with housing, it’s just so much easier!

When you click the power bottom on or off and then click it again right away it gets “hung up”. If you are watching the tv and click the power off but then change your mind and click power on again right away, the tv will get hung up in the power off. If you click it once more, let it power off all the way and then try to turn it back on, it should work. This happens to us quite a bit with a toddler that always manages to find the remote.

Hey Bubba – Just replaced the lamp in out Pana-PT-52LCX15. Weve had the set for almost 4 years and the Relace Lamp message has been coming on for almost a year before she finally went out. It was doing exactly what your tv is now doing. I think you got a bad lamp Do not buy the generic, send it back and get a Philips. I did not get the housing unit but wish I had. You need a 9″ inch philips with a magnetic head to get the screws out. To reset hold wait for meassgae to go away and then hold the tv volume button all the way high and then all the way down, THEN push the split button on the remote (bottom 2nd from left) A message will apeearthat the lamp has been reset to zero. Red light will go off too.

Just a note to those trying to replace their bulbs with non factory issued parts. I did this myself and after about a month I noticed that I started developing yellow streaks on in the screen. This happens when their is damage to the Light engine. I have been reading a lot of posts and have concluded that this happens due to the aftermarket lamps out there are not to the same standards as OEM Lamps sold by Panasonic. You may save a few bucks but you may damage your Light engine as these after market lamps are not rated and burn hotter causing damage to the light engine which is very sensitive and is very close to the bulb which heats up when on.
Good luck and buyer beware

there is a panel of the front of the tv right below the screen. remove it and look to the (left) side and there you should see a box with a silver screw on it. remove the screw and pull the cover off.next remove the other screw on the light assembly and pull the lamp assembly out from the front. replace it with the new one…there is no access to the bulb from the rear. I made the same mistake..lol

My television at home, Panasonic model no. PT-521LCX66, was working just fine until a recent storm. I had it plugged in to the proper type of electricity, and a UPS to insure it works and lasts. It worked for around 4 or 5 years with me, surviving through many storms, thanks to the UPS aswell. During the recent storm, the television was off, but it still suffered from some damage that made it cease to work. No matter what I do, when I use the remote to try and turn it on or when I use the “on” button on the television itself, it doesn’t even work. It doesn’t blink green, red, or anything. Can someone please help?

I called the customer service department and they said that for those of us who do not have the original remote, we have to go to amazon or panasonic to get one. You HAVE to reset your timer after replacing the lamp. Otherwise your tv doesn’t know you replace it and it goes into safety mode…hence the flashing lights and not turning on business. I’m on my way to order an original remote, hope this helps!!!

the simplest and smartest solution if you dont have the original remote is to buy a logitech harmony remote, you can program them to do a anything the original remote does and they work for almost everything, i have the cheapest one and it controls my tv. my dvd, my cable box and my AIR CONDITIONER.
i usually hate aftermarkey universal remotes but the harmonys online programming features beat everything out there and for around 40-50 dollars for a 4 device remote

So we replaced the bulb and we do not have the original remote so we did not get to reset the lamp meter after we replaced it.
In a previous posting someone had said that you had to reset it or it would go into “safety mode” not being able to turn on etc. So, I think our tv has now gone into “safety mode” and will not turn on. If we get a remote….how are we to turn it on to reset everything? OR am I forced to not only buy a new lamp but also a remote?
Please someone help!…lol

I don’t know if anyone has answered this or not as I didn’t read all the posts. I had colored spots just right and up from center on my 52LCX35 and I called Panasonic. They sent out a tech guy who hooked up this funny looking box to the back of my TV. I ask him what he was doing? Updating the software. Go figure. Didn’t know we had got to that point yet. Colored spots went away. Didn’t cost me a dime and I had bought the TV from WalMart at a deep discount and had it about 3 years when that happened. Hope this is some help.
