The importance of authentic
Find the best price for the Panasonic TY-LA1000 Lamp Enclosure. It’s important that you install an OEM lamp and avoid a generic, compatible lamp.
Knock-off, compatible generic lamps may seem like a bargain in the beginning. They actually cost more in the long run since they can damage the color wheel and ballast mechanisms in your RPTV. They also give off poor light, are prone to messy explosions and actually have a shorter life.
We recommend purchasing from an Authorized Philips dealer such as Discount-Merchant.com to insure that you are receiving a genuine Philips brand replacement lamp. Beware of knock-off and counterfeit Philips lamps floating around in the market.
There are also health concerns associated with these lamps. Generic lamps are made with toxic substances that can compromise your family’s health. Read more about the dangers of Krypton-85.
When you purchase an OEM replacement lamps you’re guaranteed the best lamp for your RPTV.

Panasonic TY-LA1000 TV Lamp Reset Procedure/instructions:
Per numerous members, it looks like this method works quite well:
- Hold the Vol down button on the TV and the Split button on the REMOTE for five seconds, -or- Press the Volume button on the TV while pressing hte SPLIT button on the Remote Control for five seconds
- It will NOT work if you try to do it both from your remote
Compatible Panasonics
This guide is compatible with the following Panasonic TVs:
PT43LC14, PT-43LC14, PT43LCX64, PT-43LCX64, PT44LCX65, PT-44LCX65, PT50LC13, PT-50LC13, PT50LC14, PT-50LC14, PT50LCX63, PT-50LCX63, PT50LCX64, PT-50LCX64, PT52LCX15, PT-52LCX15, PT52LCX15B, PT-52LCX15B, PT52LCX35, PT-52LCX35, PT52LCX65, PT-52LCX65,PT60LC13, PT-60LC13, PT60LC14, PT-60LC14, PT60LCX63, PT-60LCX63, PT60LCX64, PT-60LCX64, PT61LCX35, PT-61LCX35, PT61LCX65,
PT-61LCX65.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: Be cautious of replacement “lamps” or “bulbs” for the TY-LA1000 sold without the enclosure housing. Typically, buying the lamp-only is okay, as long as the customer is purchasing an original lamp. Always stay away from off-brand bulbs manufactured by OSRAM, LTI, APO, or another third-party provider for your Panasonic TY-LA1000. When purchasing just the lamp itself (even an original), it can be a hassle unless you’re fairly good with a technician’s soldering iron.
Your original enclosure has the lamp cable connectors soldered from it’s terminals to the connector plug. When purchasing just the lamp alone, you will have to cut this connector and soldering it on your new lamp. Sounds confusing or difficult? It is… and until we make a kit for it, I don’t suggest anyone purchase the bare bulb only!
UPDATE 08/24/09 – We have the TY-LA1000 wire harness kit available fitted with the industries best lamp. No splicing cables, no electrical shock to worry about!
Now you can rest at ease with the purchase of the lamp kit or the complete enclosure. We still recommend the complete unit since you won’t have to worry about finding an extra long screw driver or messing with the elaborate cage for this TV. For the best price on the Pansonic TY-LA1000 (complete housing unit), click here.

PT-52LXC65 Replaced the bulb and everything worked fine. Now when I try to turn it on the power light flashes green then it flashes red. Sometimes it works after this sometimes it doesn’t. Usually I have to unplug it and wait and then plug it back in and it turns on again. Now no such luck. Any suggestions?

I have a Panasonic PT-52LCX65 that takes the TYLA1000 bulb. Had more than 2 years of service before replacing the bulb. The new Phillips bulb lasted 30 days then quit working. The set would not power up and give a picture, and the “replace lamp” indicator would flash red once every 4 to 6 seconds. I didn’t reset the timer when I replaced the bulb but had success when I finally figured out how to do it with the help of this forum.
1. The TV was unplugged for half an hour, thinking this would clear its “memory,” (don’t know if this made any difference or not.
2. Plugged it back in and found the original remote (not the cable remote because the cable remote doesn’t have the “split” button on it), that came with the TV. Turned the TV on at the console and pressed the “TV” button on the remote and held it down for 5 seconds until the button flashed.
3. Pressed and held the “Volume down” button on the console while holding down the “split” button on the bottom of the remote for about 5 seconds.
4. The picture came on. Then reset the remote controller to “DBS/Cable.” Nice picture with no further problems.
5. I never saw the screen that says “Lamp hours reset”, like its says in the pdf instructions on this site.
Good luck to you!

I have a PT-50LCX64 Panasonic bought as a store display model. For months the screen displays “The lamp needs to be replaced. . .” message every time TV is turned on, but the picture is fine. The company says I can’t replace it until its completely gone. How do I disable the screen message and if so, does this affect the warranty?

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TURN THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP ON TV (not the remote) THEN BRING IT DOWN TO ZERO STILL HOLDING ON TO VOLUME THEN PRESS THE SPLIT BUTTON . IT WORKS JUST TRIED IT. ps exit the lamp message first.

If your model of TV is PT-52lcx16, do the following:
Hold the (VOL-) button on the TV and then hold the 0(zero) button down on the remote for 5 secs. That will reset your lamp. This is straight from the TYLA-1001 bulb users manual. Remember, this is only for the TYLA-1001 bulb, the TYLA-1000 bulb has different instructions. I just did this and it works perfectly.

Sharon,
It may be your DMD board. Your dmd board houses your dmd chip which houses millions of micro mirrors on it. It tilts back and forth very rapidly and the mirrors reflect light onto your screen. So it’s it’s broken or not working properly it can cause your color issues.

Paul,
You won’t harm your set by waiting until the other bulb goes out. It’s ok to wait until it does.

Sharon: I had a similar problem but the spot was a red one towards the right side middle of the TV. My TV was under extended warranty and Panasonic diagnosed as a memory problem in the TV that needed upgraded. My TV guy ordered a EE PROM correction tool from Panasonic and connected it and it dumped the memory and installed the upgrade into the TV. Took 10 minutes and working perfectly. Should be no more than a service call. Hope that helps!

If anyone still needs to know how to reset their Panasonic PT-52LCX65 TV without the original remote, here is how I did it.
I didn’t get the original remote when I purchaced the TV. I use a Logitech Harmony 670 remote so I don’t really need the Panasonic remote. I simply assigned the PIP/Split comand in the Logictech software to one of the unused buttons on my all in one remote. Then I pressed the Vol – button on the TV while holding down the button where the PIP/Split command was assigned. The TV then displayed a message saying the hour meter had been reset.
Hope this helps.

I lost the remote to my PT-44LCX65, bought a new on ebay, held the volume down button on the TV itself and then held the SPLIT button on the remote. After a couple of seconds, the timer was reset and the red LAMP LED went out. I was having a heck of a time trying to get the TV on the last couple of months after I changed out the bulb. Haven’t had the TV off yet since the kids are watching a new cartoon. Will post the news after they got to bed.

Hi, My TV one day just did not turn on – I put a new lamp I assumed that it might be the problem seeing as thats the only thing I’ve ever had to do is replace the lamp – well the TV light keeps flashing green for a minute or so then starts flashing red none stop I’ve disconnected the TV for a couple of days and tried holding the VOL – and SPLIT and nothing seems to help
