How to replace Samsung lamp enclosure for your DLP TV.
Step 1.- First of all, unplug the TV from the wall outlet. You have a few thousand volts going through your ballast, be very careful! It’s also a good idea to let the TV cool down for a good 15-20 minutes as the bulb itself can get extremely hot.
Locate the lamp enclosure door; it’s usually at the back of your television.
Step 2.- There are four screws on each corner of the lamp door, remove them using a Philips screw driver.
Step 3.- Take the lamp door out by dismounting it from one side.
Step 4.- inside you’ll find the lamp enclosure.
Step 5.- On the side of the plastic enclosure there is a screw that secures the enclosure, uninstall it with a Philips screwdriver.
Step 6.- Pull it out the old enclosure from your TV and slide in the new one.
Step 7.- Reinstall the screw on the lamp enclosure.
Step 8.- On the bottom left corner there is a blue switch that detects if the lamp door is properly installed, if you try to turn your TV on without it won’t turn on.
Step 9.- Place the lamp door back in its place.
Step 10.- Secure it tightly with the four screws on each corner.

Hi. Thanks for this great info. I replaced my lamp but get the same results with the new one (blinking lights suggesting defective lamp). Is it possible to test if the problem is the lamp or something else?

You should add Step “Zero” in there: Disassemble the fully assembled lamp/enclosure assembly you just ordered from D-M and put it together correctly. Turn the upside down connector right-side up, and connect the wires to the correct terminals. No, don’t expect D-M to send you a properly assembled part, or offer to expedite ship a correctly assembled replacement.

I have a Samsung HL-S5087W. R there any videos out on how to change the enclosure containing the lamp? The rear of my TV doesn’t look like this one.

Of all the instructions this was the first to actually show my assembly. Even my samsung manul did not show this assembly that was inside my tv. Also the samsung manual does not correctly show how to get the lamp assembly out form inside the tv only how to change the lamp once it’s already out. This site was extremely helpful to me since it correctly showed what the inside of my tv looked like. I had the big assembly inside my tv not the small lamp assembly the smasung manual showed me. Thank you this was right on the money for me.
