Hi Rick,
It may be lamp about to blow since it will give you sound but no picture. The lamp is the easiest solution because the other things that may be wrong could be the ballast, color wheel or main circuit board. How old is the lamp and how many hours has it been in use? I would start with the lamp. You could also considered joining our forum where there are many more experts you could help you out.

Hi Tim,
It's hard to resist the lure of a bargain but counterfeit lamps don't save you any money in the long run. We try to encourage people to spend the extra money upfront because it pays off in the long run. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

You are SOOOOOOO correct, you must purchase genuine lamps from Mitsu Electric. After 2 cheap ebay lamps that 3rd one did the trick. And it sounds like a lot of other folks went down the same rabbit hole I did.

For everyone else who bought 1 or 2 $25 projector bulbs and you still have no video, like me, take note.

Instead of replacing driver and system boards after buying two cheap lamps with no change, I spent $100 from Mitsu electric for the same bulb and 3rd lamp works fine. Something about the correct wattage and genuine parts that makes the difference.

Hi Holdfast,
Sometimes the lamps sold on e-bay are counterfeit lamps that haven't been calibrated properly and the projector will read this as a lamp that is burnt out. The other issues is that the ballast/colour wheel can be damaged gone and the projector won't work. Is it worth you time to get a technician to look at it? I would call discount-merchant.com and ask about their lamps http://www.discount-merchant.com/ 1-800-281-8860. They may be able to help out with the ballast problem. I would also recommend joining our forum where there are experts who can show you how to test your colour wheel and ballast. http://www.fixyourdlp.com/forum.
Sorry for the bad news.
Cheers,
Shelagh

HI Brandee,
Your lamp doesn't have to be blown to reach end of life. In fact it's better if the bulb is still intact. The solid red light does mean that the lamp has reached end of life and needs to be replaced. Don't keep using it because the lamp will then overheat and blow out. How long have you had the lamp? If it's longer than six months and you use your TV a lot, then the lamp has reached end of life. I recommend checking out discount-merchant.com for a well priced AUTHENTIC replacement. Spend the extra few dollars and avoid buying counterfeit since they will cause you even more problems down the road.
Cheers,
Shelagh
