Your BenQ MS614 projector uses the BenQ 5J.J3T05.001 replacement projector lamp. When it’s time to replace the BenQ MS614 projector lamp you’ll see a series warnings appear on screen.

First warning: The BenQ MS614 projector lamp has been in operation equivalent to 4500 hours or for 6,000 hours Econo Mode, you have up to 6000 hours before changing the lamp. You can wait until the second warning to replace the projector lamp. Press MODE/ENTER to dismiss the message.

Second Warning: The BenQ MS614 projector lamp has been in operation equivalent to 4000 hours or 6,000 hours in Econo mode. You should replace the lamp immediately. Press MODE/ENTER to dismiss the message.

Out of lamp: The BenQ MS614 projector lamp has reached its end of life and the projector will shut down until the lamp is replaced. Install a new BenQ 5J.J3T05.00 projector lamp immediately.

Follow these safety instructions before changing the lamp:

  • Reduce the risk of electrical shock by disconnecting the power cord on the BenQ MS614 projector.
  • Reduce the risk of severe burns by allowing the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. The projector should be cool to the touch.

Replacing the projector lamp

  • Loosen the screw holding the projector lamp cover in place

  • Loosen the screw that secures the lamp.

NOTE: The BenQ 5J.J3T05.00 projector lamp contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps!

  • Tighten the screw that secures the lamp. Loose screw may cause a bad connection,

  • Replace the lamp cover on the BenQ MS614 projector.
  • Reset the lamp timer.

Resetting the lamp timer

Do not reset the BenQ MS614 projector lamp timer if the lamp has not been replaced as this could cause damage. Don’t start the if the lamp cover has not been replaced. To reset the projector lamp timer:

  • Plug the BenQ MS614 projector and get it started.
  • Open up the menu and scroll over to SYSTEM/SETUP: Advanced. Press ENTER
  • Press MODE/ENTER to display the Lamp Settings page
  • Highlight Reset lamp timer to display a warning asking it you want to reset the lamp timer.
  • Select RESET. Press ENTER.
  • Lamp time will be reset to zero.

Extend the BenQ MS614 projector lamp

  • Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
  • Setting Lamp Power to Eco mode. Using Whisper mode reduces system noise and power consumption. It also extends the projector lamp life. To set Econo mode, go into the Advanced Setup > Lamp > Lamp Power menu.

Checking lamp status

When it’s time to replace the projector lamp the LAMP REPLACEMENT will light up red. If the Sharp XG NV2U projector lamp is not replaced immediately the projector will turn off and remain off until the new lamp is installed.

Installing the projector lamp

The Sharp XG NV2U projector uses the Sharp BQC-XGNV2U projector lamp.

Before replacing the Sharp XG NV2U projector lamp follow these important safety tips:

  • Press power button on the projector.
  • Wait until the cooling fan stops.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Unplug the power cord from the AC socket.

Hold the lamp cage (i) by the wire handle (h) and pull it upwards towards you. Take the new Sharp BQC-XGNV2U lamp by the handle (h). Make sure the grooves on the side of the lamp cage are properly aligned (j) with the projectors lamp compartment. Be sure to align the top screw holes of the lamp cage (k) are aligned with the screw holes in the Sharp XG NV2U projector.

Tighten screws (e), (f), (g) and (d) on the lamp. Place the lamp cover back on the tighten the screws. You are ready to reset the lamp timer.

Reset the projector lamp timer

When you have replaced the Sharp XG NV2U projector lamp you need to reset the lamp timer to zero so the projector can accurately track the lamp life left. To reset:
  • Sharp _XG NV2U_projector_lamp_reset_ Sharp_BQC-XGNV2UPlug in the power cord.
  • While pressing the ADJUSTMENT left arrow and ADJUSTMENT down arrow along with the ENTER button on the projector, press the MAIN POWER switch.
  • Press the POWER ON/OFF button on the projector or the POWER button on the remote control to turn on the power.
  • “LAMP 0000H” is displayed, indicating that the lamp timer is reset

  • Press OK to open up as the LAMP COUNTER RESET.
  • Click on the SET option to open a confirmation window.

 

  • The message “Lamp replace counter reset?” is displayed.

  • Turn on the projector
  • Press the MENU button on the remote control. The Lamp Reset Menu will appear.

  • Select YES to the prompt asking if you want to reset the lamp hours. Press ENTER.

Extend the life of the newly installed Epson ELPLP85 projector lamp with the following tips:

  • Keep your air filters clean to avoid overheating the projector.
  • Turn off the EH-TW6600 projector and let it stand for at least one hour ever 24 hours. An average use of four to five hours per day will ensure longer lamp life.

Germicidal Fluorescent LightGermicidal bulbs are becoming popular in the work place and at home.

Central heating or air conditioning, particularly those with a shared ventilation system, often have problems with spreading bacteria, viruses and fungal contamination. We’ve all heard about sick building syndrome. As we move indoors for the winter season, we are exposed to more airborne diseases. UV-C lighting is proving an effective way to fight off those germs that make us sick.

Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a disinfection method that uses ultraviolet wavelengths to disinfect and destroy airborne pathogens. The practice started out in medical facilities and work areas that needed to be sterile but is now available for home use in air purifiers and UV-C lighting.

Similar but different

Germicidal CFLGermicidal bulbs look similar to fluorescent light bulbs. It can be hard to tell them apart since they have the same basic shape with hot and cold cathode used. Both produce ultraviolet radiation inside the bulb that uses low pressure mercury to produce the light.

The difference is found on the inside of the lamp. In order to convert ultraviolet to visible light fluorescent bulbs are coated inside with phosphor. This gives them that telltale white glass look.  A germicidal bulb transmits a higher ultraviolet wavelength so its glass is clear.

Most germicidal bulbs are configured to transmit at 253.7nm, the wavelength with the greatest lethal effectiveness against bacteria, viruses and fungal infection.

Exposure to the germicidal UV deactivates the reproduction systems pathogens so these pathogens can’t multiple.

While it’s good for destroying airborne pathogens, these germicidal bulbs do expose us to more powerful ultraviolet radiation. Compared to fluorescent bulbs that block out most of the UV, germicidal allow more exposure. Therefore, you must be careful to avoid looking directly at them.

Be sure to purchase your germicidal lamp from a reputable Philips OEM manufacturer to guarantee the best possible product. Counterfeit germicidal lamps simply don’t have any of the necessary safety features.

When to replace

The Sony KDF-37H1000 lamp should last up to 8,000 hours depending on how much you use the TV. When the Sony KDF-37H1000 lamp is reaching end of life, you will see a message on screen reminding you to replace the lamp and the Lamp indicator on the TV will start flashing red. Other end of life signs may also include darker images on screen and colors that look off.

To replace the LCD projection lamp

The Sony KDF-42E2000 LCD TV uses the Sony XL-2500 Replacement TV Lamp. Before installing the new lamp, follow these safety precautions:

  • Turn off the power.
  • Let the cooling fan operate for two minutes after the power is turned off.
  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Wait an additional 30 minutes to allow the lamp to cool down. It should be cool to the touch.
  • Avoid touching the glass bulb of the new lamp since oil from your hands can leave a mark.

To replace the lamp

Using equal force, press both hooks (see #1) towards the KDF-37H1000 TV screen in the direction the arrows are pointing.
While pressing the two hooks (see #1) push the center lever (see #2) towards the TV screen and pull the lamp cover towards
you. The lamp cover should come off easily.

 

Remove the KDF-37H1000 TV lamp door by holding the door knob. Press the door lever toward the door knob in the direction the arrow is pointing. Then, pull the lamp door out of the TV towards you.

NOTE: Be sure to recycle the Sony XL-2500 Replacement TV Lamp as contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle it!

Insert the new Sony XL-2500 lamp into place by holding the
indented grooves firmly. Make sure the lamp is
securely mounted into the compartment. A loose lamp may cause a fire or the screen to go dark. If the lamp is not securely reattached, the self-diagnostic function may be
triggered and the POWER LED blinks six time

lamp door is on top while placing the door lamp into the compartment.

door lever when sliding the lamp door into the compartment.

Reattach the Sony KDF-42E2000 LCD TV lamp door. Turn the knob back to CLOSE and secure the cover

Sony_KDF-37H1000_lamp_XL-2500_shut_doorKeep the door at a slant, slide the lamp door into the compartment by leading with the left side. Insert the two tabs into the slot and follow the guide rail. Once the left side can no longer be pushed in, press
the lamp door lever toward the door knob.
Sony_KDF-37H1000_lamp_XL-2500_secure_doorShut the lamp door by releasing the door  lever.  When you hear a clicking sound the lamp door is secure. Make sure it is securely closed by tugging on the door knob.
Put the outside lamp cover back in its place. Insert the two small tabs from the left side of the outside lamp cover into the slots of the TV. Push in the two larger tabs of the outside lamp cover on the right side into the TV. The outside lamp cover is securely closed if you hear two
two clicking sounds are made.

Setting the lamp timer

Once the Sony KDF-37H1000 TV lamp has been replaced you will need to reset the lamp timer so the TV set knows it has received a new lamp. Go to the Settings icon on the main TV Screen and choose the General Settings. Scroll down to the Lamp Replacement option and choose that to reset the lamp timer to zero.
