Replace the lamp immediately when you see this. Other warning signs may be a dim picture, color that appears washed and a image that is fading.

Replace the Canon LV-5220E projector lamp

Before changing the projector lamp:

  • The Canon LV-5220E operates at an extremely high temperature so it needs to cool down for at least 45 minute before you replace the projector lamp. Trying to change the lamp when the projector is still hot can result in a serious burn.
  • Be sure to unplug the electrical cord on the Canon LV-5220E there is no chance the projector could get turned on during the installation. This could damage your projector beyond repair.

  • Loosen the two screws holding the projector lamp cover in place. Place the cover aside.

Resetting the lamp timer counter

After replacing the Canon LV-LP19 projector lamp, you’ll need to turn off the LAMP REPLACE indicator by resetting the LAMP REPLACE COUNTER in the Canon LV-5220E. This counter tracks the number of hours the lamp has been used by the Canon LV-5220E and triggers the warning light when the lamp is reaching its end of life. Not resetting it after may stop your projector from turning back on.

How to replace the Optoma BL-FP180D

Follow these important safety steps before installing a new Optoma BL-FU180A replacement projector lamp in your Optoma ES522 projector:

  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Switch off the power to the Optoma DS219 projector by pressing the Power/Standby button.
  • Allow the projector to cool down for at least 30 minutes. If should be cool to the touch. These projectors run using high temperatures and you can burn yourself badly if you don’t allow the projector to cool down.

1. The lamp cover is located underneath the Optoma DS219 so place it on soft before turning it over. Remove the two captive screws from the cover.

2. Lift the cover up off the Optoma DS219 and place it to one side. You’ll need to re-install the cover after the new projector lamp has been installed or the projector will not turn on.

3. Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the Optoma BL-FU180A  projector lamp module in place.

4. Lift up the wire handle and slowly put out the old Optoma BL-FU180A projector lamp. Be careful not to bang the projector lamp against the projector as this may case the bulb to break. Be sure to recycle this lamp as it contains mercury. Don’t place it into regular garbage.

5. Take the new Optoma BL-FU180A projector lamp out of its package. Gently place it into the Optoma DS219 projector. Tighten the two screws on the projector lamp.

6. Replace the lamp cover and tighten its two screws. You must now reset the Lamp Replacement Timer.

The Hitachi CP-X206 projector uses the Hitachi DT00841. Before installing the new projector lamp, follow these safety measures

  • Turn off the Hitachi CP-X206 projector.

  • Insert the new lamp, taking care not to touch the actual bulb. Oil in your fingers will cause a dark spot on the lamp when it heats up.
  • Tighten the two screws of the Hitachi DT00841 projector lamp that were loosened to remove the old projector lamp.
  • Slide the lamp cover back in place and firmly fasten the screw of the lamp cover.
  • Turn on the projector and set the lamp timer:

Finding lamp hours

The NEC NP300 projector uses the NEC NP07LP projector lamp. You can track the hours left for the project lamp with the Usage Time menu.

Once the NEC NP07LP projector lamp and NEC NP300 projector filter have both been replaced you will need to reset the timer for both. You want the projector to be able to accurately track the projector lamp life.

When the Canon LV-7225 projector lamp has reached its end of life the LAMP REPLACE on the projector will light yellow. Replace the lamp immediately when you see this.

Step 3: Replace the Canon LV-7225 projector lamp

Before changing the projector lamp:

  • Be sure to unplug the electrical cord so there is no chance the projector could get turned on during the installation. This could damage your projector.
  • Let the Canon LV-7225 cool down for at least 45 minutes. This projector operates at an extremely high temperature and you could get badly burned if it’s still hot. Don’t rush it.

  • Loosen the two screws on the with a screwdriver and pull out the Canon LV-LP18 lamp assembly by using the built in handle.
  • NOTE: The used LV-LP18 projector lamp contains mercury and should be properly recycled. Don’t throw it into regular garbage.
  • Pulling too quickly can cause the bulb to shatter. Learn how to clean up a broken lamp.
  • Replace the lamp assembly with a new Canon LV-LP18. Be careful not to touch the actual bulb as oil from your fingers can leave black marks on the lamp.
  • Tighten the two screws on the lamp.
  • Put back the lamp cover and tighten its two screws.
  • Connect the AC power cord to the Canon LV-LP18 and turn on the projector to reset the lamp timer.

Resetting the lamp timer counter

After replacing the Canon LV-LP18 projector lamp, you’ll need to turn off the LAMP REPLACE indicator by resetting the LAMP REPLACE COUNTER. The counter tracks the number of hours the lamp has been used by the Canon LV-7225 and triggers the warning light when the lamp is reaching its end of life. Not resetting it after may stop your projector from turning back on.

  • Turn the projector on and press the MENU.
  • The On-Screen menu will be displayed on the left.
  • Using the arrow buttons, mover the red frame pointer to the SETTING menu icon.

  • Press OK to open up as the RESET LAMP COUNTER box.
  • Click on the SET option to open a confirmation window.
  • The message “Lamp replace counter reset?” is displayed.
  • Click on YES.

  • The projector image gets darker and starts to deteriorate.

Step 2: Install the replacement projector lamp

Follow these important safety steps BEFORE installing the replacement

  • Turn off the InFocus IN37 projector and unplug the power cord.
  • To avoid getting burned, let the projector fully cool before changing the lamp.
  • Place the projector on a soft surface.
  • Do not operate the projectors while any of the lamps are removed as this may result in malfunctions, fire hazard and other accidents.
  • Caution: Don’t touch the screen or the actual bulb with your finger since the oil from your skin can cause a black spot on the bulb.

  • Remove the lamp door by using a screw driver to gently pop off the cover.
  • Slide the door forward and lift the door off.

  • Connect the connection wire from the lamp to the projector
  • Slide the lamp door back in place, making sure it is aligned so it clicks into place.

NOTE: The InFocus SP-LAMP-019 contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle your used lamps!

Step 3: Reset the projector lamp timer

Step One: Buying the right projector lamp

Step Two: Know when to replace

Step Three: Installing a new Optoma EX542 lamp

Pre-installation safety preparation:

Follow these important safety tips before installing a new BL-FP180E into your Optoma EX542 projector.

  • Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the Power/Standby button.
  • Allow the projector to cool down for at least 30 minutes. If should be cool to the touch. The Optoma EX542 runs at a high temperature and you can burn yourself badly if you don’t allow the projector to cool down.
  • Disconnect the power cord.

Step-by-step instructions

Remove the old lamp

2: Remove the lamp cover and place to one side. Don’t lose the screws to the cover as the projector will not turn back on until the projector lamp cover has been properly installed.

3: Remove both screws holding the BL-FP180E  projector lamp in place.Lift the wire handle on the lamp and gently remove it from the projector. Be careful not to hit the lamp or you can cause it to break.

  • NOTE: The BL-FP180E  contains mercury and should not be thrown into regular garbage. Recycle this lamp.

Install the new lamp:

  • Take the new Optoma BL-FP180E projector lamp out of its packaging and lift the handle on the lamp.
  • Gently place it into the projector making sure not to touch the actual bulb. Oil from fingerprint marks can burn black spots onto the lamp when it heats up.
  • Tighten the screws on the projector lamp.
  • Close the lid. Tighten the cover screws.
  • You are now ready to reset the lamp timer.

Step 4: Reset the Optoma EX542 projector lamp timer

Your Optoma EX542 comes equipped with an automatic projector lamp timer that tracks the number of hours left for the BL-FP180E (SP.8EF01GC01) lamp. Each time you change the lamp you need to reset the lamp timer. Failure to do so may cause the projector to use the lamp over the recommended period of time resulting in the lamp exploding.

  • Press MENU
  • Select OPTIONS
  • Select Lamp Settings
  • Select Lamp Reset

Under Brightness Mode:

  • Choose STD to dim the projector lamp and lower power consumption making the lamp last longer.
  • Choose BRIGHT to make the lamp brighter but decrease lamp life.
