An IMPORTANT NOTE: Be weary of replacement “lamps” or “bulbs” for the TY-LA1000 sold without the enclosure housing. Typically, buying the lamp-only is okay, as long as the customer is purchasing an original lamp. Always stay away from off-brand bulbs manufactured by OSRAM, LTI, APO, or another third-party provider for your Panasonic TY-LA1000. When purchasing just the lamp itself (even an original), it can be a hassle unless you’re fairly good with a technician’s soldering iron.
Your original enclosure has the lamp cable connectors soldered from it’s terminals to the connector plug. When purchasing just the lamp alone, you will have to cut this connector and soldering it on your new lamp. Sounds confusing or difficult? It is…and until we make a kit for it, I don’t suggest anyone purchase the bare bulb only!
To avoid all the hassle, just purchase the whole enclosure. For the best price on the TY-LA1000 Enclosure, click here.

I have the same TV with the same problem, did you ever determine how to fix? Did the TV need service? If so how much did the repairs cost?

Replaced TYLA1000 in housing in my Pana PTLC43. All seemed ok but then a I started getting yellow shades coming up from the bottom. I called the place that sold me the lamp and they say its my “color wheel” having an issue. Anyone else experience this issue?

PT-52LXC65 Replaced the bulb and everything worked fine. Now when I try to turn it on the power light flashes green then it flashes red. Sometimes it works after this sometimes it doesn’t. Usually I have to unplug it and wait and then plug it back in and it turns on again. Now no such luck. Any suggestions?

I have a Panasonic PT-52LCX65 that takes the TYLA1000 bulb. Had more than 2 years of service before replacing the bulb. The new Phillips bulb lasted 30 days then quit working. The set would not power up and give a picture, and the “replace lamp” indicator would flash red once every 4 to 6 seconds. I didn’t reset the timer when I replaced the bulb but had success when I finally figured out how to do it with the help of this forum.
1. The TV was unplugged for half an hour, thinking this would clear its “memory,” (don’t know if this made any difference or not.
2. Plugged it back in and found the original remote (not the cable remote because the cable remote doesn’t have the “split” button on it), that came with the TV. Turned the TV on at the console and pressed the “TV” button on the remote and held it down for 5 seconds until the button flashed.
3. Pressed and held the “Volume down” button on the console while holding down the “split” button on the bottom of the remote for about 5 seconds.
4. The picture came on. Then reset the remote controller to “DBS/Cable.” Nice picture with no further problems.
5. I never saw the screen that says “Lamp hours reset”, like its says in the pdf instructions on this site.
Good luck to you!

I have a PT-50LCX64 Panasonic bought as a store display model. For months the screen displays “The lamp needs to be replaced. . .” message every time TV is turned on, but the picture is fine. The company says I can’t replace it until its completely gone. How do I disable the screen message and if so, does this affect the warranty?

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO TURN THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP ON TV (not the remote) THEN BRING IT DOWN TO ZERO STILL HOLDING ON TO VOLUME THEN PRESS THE SPLIT BUTTON . IT WORKS JUST TRIED IT. ps exit the lamp message first.

I bought the new lamp and installed it on my PT-52LCx65 but my only problem is that I dont have the original remote that came with the T.V. Is there any way to still replace the meter on my T.V. without the original remote? Please help!!!

If your model of TV is PT-52lcx16, do the following:
Hold the (VOL-) button on the TV and then hold the 0(zero) button down on the remote for 5 secs. That will reset your lamp. This is straight from the TYLA-1001 bulb users manual. Remember, this is only for the TYLA-1001 bulb, the TYLA-1000 bulb has different instructions. I just did this and it works perfectly.

It sound like the light engine.
June 8th, 2009 at 10:43 am
The spot is about 2 inches in diameter. near the middle of the screen closer to the right side. I only notice it when the show I’m watching has white or light colours in that area. The picture shows someone in a dark suit or dark background I don’t see it. I hope it helps. I will try to get a photo of it. Thank u so much for ur reply

Sharon,
It may be your DMD board. Your dmd board houses your dmd chip which houses millions of micro mirrors on it. It tilts back and forth very rapidly and the mirrors reflect light onto your screen. So it’s it’s broken or not working properly it can cause your color issues.
June 8th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
So I guess I need someone in to repair it?
June 8th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Sharon,
Is it under warrenty still? How long have you had it for?
June 8th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
I’ve had if for 5 yrs
June 8th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
Sharon,
Oh wow and is this the first time your having problems with it? It will be quite expensive to have it repaired just about as much as buying a new TV.

I have a panasonic pt-43lc14 and the lamp replacement message has came on. I have a replacement for the bulb (housing included) should I wait until the bulb goes out to change it, will this harm the set if I do. Picture still looks good, no fading or anything.
June 8th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
I have a Panasonic Model#PT-50LC14 and i can not get the blue screen off the TV. I do not have the original remote but i do have a logictech harmony. It has all the features of the original but i just cant get it to work. Should i get original or do you guys have any other ideas?
June 9th, 2009 at 10:47 am
Paul,
You won’t harm your set by waiting until the other bulb goes out. It’s ok to wait until it does.
June 9th, 2009 at 10:50 am
Davis May,
It’s always best to have the original, but if you can figure how to work your logictech harmony then go for it!
June 9th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
I know how to work it but I dont know if the buttons will work the same. I have the same button options but I just do not want to go out and spend the 50 bucks if i dont have too. I have tried some of the reset options I read but none seem to work. I need to find out how to resrt the lamp. If anyone knows how to reset the lamp timer for this model of TV i would really like to know.
June 18th, 2009 at 11:42 pm
I replaced my ty-la1000 and now i smell something like plastic burning after about 45 mins to an hour.
Any ideas what it could be? Any way I can check to see if it’s the lamp by itself? TV and picture are perfect otherwise.
June 21st, 2009 at 12:40 am
I have the Panasonic PT-60LCX64 which I’ve had now for 3.5 years… All of the sudden I’ve noticed it’s not as bright and the darks/blacks are hard to see.. like on a dark movie, it’s hard to see the picture. The lamp replacement light isnt flashing so not sure what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
