Turned out to be the GM board, adjacent to the power supply.

No, I was watching at the tme it failed and there was no clicking or popping or anything at all.

KDF-E60A20 went dead, Power LED blinks red!!
KDF-E60A20 Power LED on front panel blinks 3 times in red. I was watching it when the picture went dead. No picture, no sound. I pulled out the lamp, called around, was told it should be replaced (3 1/2 years old) even though it wasn't broken. I replaced it. Same symptoms. Owners manual says the dis...
