Just want to update in case somebody has the same issue that I did. I replaced the lamp and it works fine now; it was quick and easy. Thanks for the help. Btw, my older lamp lasted for 10776 hours :D

No I have not changed the lamp yet. I know it's getting really old. So you don't think the ballast that is causing the problem? But I will try to clean the dust inside first and see if it helps. If not, I will replace the lamp as you suggested. Hopefully it's the culprit :)

I have been reading this Samsung forum in the past 2 weeks since my 5-year old TV started having this problem. Up until now, I think it might be the ballast but I'm not so sure.
