Re: HDTV antennas
Hey Ovadoggvo, Thanks for all the info. We are actually going to try the HDTV antenna with an older model we have. It's a Samsung -- nothing wrong with it -- just an older moder. With this Comcast/ Time Warner Cable deal in the works, I'm worried about slow streaming speeds. Going back to old fashio...

Re: Are Philips truly better than "generic" Lamps???
Hey, I have only my experience but I got badly burned with generic lamps. Messed up my projector. First it didn't really fit well inside. The lamp cover wouldn't go on and when it did I had a lousy picture. It eventually popped inside, left bits of glass inside the projector. A real pain to clean up...

Re: 44NHM84 FLASHING GREEN OPERATION INDICATOR
Hey I'm no expert but on my projector if the lamp cover is not properly tightened it won't turn. I suspect the RPTV cover works the same way. You just changed your lamp right? Maybe check the cover. Also did you use an OEM lamp with your set? I had a lot of trouble with my generic dlp lamps. Caused ...

Re: Projection Screen
Hey Grayfox, I checked out your recommendation and we ended up going with the Da-Lite Cinema Vision projector screen. We do have a fixed wall and this projector screen can handle low levele of ambient light, which we automatically have since this used to be a darkroom in the basement. It also produc...

HDTV antennas
Hey gang, Does anyone have any experience using HDTVs? I just found out my cable provider won't be showing the Super Bowl commercials but well be cutting to local ads. This is the final straw with them. I'm burnt out on the lousy service and high fees. A buddy of mine said he was able to cut off his...

Re: Ceiling Mounted Projectors
Hey everyone, Interesting post. I hadn't considered doing the ceiling mount option with my home theater. What are the benefits? Does it give you a better picture. We just have ours on a high table with the legs raised as high as possible. Our home theater is in a basement so the ceilings are a bit l...

Re: Projection Screen
Hi grayfox, Thank for the info on the high contrast screens. The room we have for our home theater is pretty dark. It was actually a former dark\office for the photographer who lived here before. We didn't know what to do with the room since it was so dark but still a decent size. It was too dark an...

Re: Projection Screen
Hey Ovadoggvo, Thank for bringing that point up about the screen material. My wife didn`t believe me when i told her that material does matter. I think it`s probably better to buy mid-range than low ball it. last we want is for the projector to get stuck up or down. Can you recommend any places to b...

Re: Projection Screen
Hey Shelagh, One of the reasons we want to buy a screen is that sometimes we do notice the picture a bit distorted for certain shows. We also have to keep the room with absolutely not lights one and my wife is tired of stumbling around in the dark. We looked over that article you suggested. Very hel...

Re: KDS-R70XBR2
Hi Nicco, I'm new to the forum as well but have been reading some articles on the Fix Your DLP blog about the fake lamps on the market. Where did you buy your lamp? If you bought it on Amazon or ebay you may have been sold a fake lamp from a Chinese manufacturer. They claim their products are compat...

Re: Projection Screen
Hi Grayfox, I have a home theatre set up with using a Optoma DS317 that gave us a cinema experience but is great for gaming. I've been using a white wall that was flat and smooth enough to give a decent pic. However, my partner is about to paint the whole basement in shades of olive green and desert...

I have a large rec room that doesn't get a lot of natural light so what's the best screen to get? Does size really matter :l...

Re: Why are Philips lamps better than "Generics"?
Hi Grayfox and folks, I just found your forum and there is loads of great information. I won't every buy another generic lamp. I was stoked thinking about the money I saved by buying a cheap generic lamp on Amazon that was listed as a compatible. After 20 hours the lamp exploded inside my BenQ proje...
