make sure your lamp cover is on securely before you turn on the set. The problem you are describing to me may be a temperature sensor issue. The temp sensor looks like this:

Does the actual lamp turn off or does the screen just go black with back light still on?

It may be a ballast issue as the Toshiba model you have has a common ballast failure. If the backlight is still on when this happens, your DMD board is starting to fail.

Press menu on your tv remote control. Do you experience the same lines on the menu system?

Bring up your PIP with a different input.. Do you have the same lines in your little Picture in Picture box?

Unfortunately, your first diagnosis is a new lamp. It would be tough to diagnose your TV set without a new lamp. Once you have a new lamp, we can procede with the diagnosis of your color wheel, digital board, and DMD board.

To test to see whether or not your ballast is getting power, look at the test point in this photo. The voltage can be measured with a standard multimeter set to DC voltage.
