If your TV is 5 years or older I would definitely look into replacing the ballast. That is they're average life span. If not replaced they do begin to have issues the most common would be lamp not igniting or lamp suddenly shutting off.
Hello, Have you tried to rescan for channels ? How about leaving that particular channel from your channel list. After doing a little research it sounds like the tuner board could be at fault. If you were to have a digital converter box you could try connecting it to one of your outputs and see if y...
Hello, That sound you mention it's coming from the TV's audio ? I am asking because colorwheels will usually make a loud humming type noise when they are starting to fail. That sound will be like a mechanical type sound not to be confused with the sound ballast's make when they are starting to fail,...
Hello, If your ballast has never been replaced it's likely that the problem is that. The ballast powers the bulb and after so long depending on usage but I have noticed usually after 5 years of using the TV the ballast will start showing signs of weakening. It usually starts having a harder time ign...
Hello, Please check to ensure you have a good source of video going to the TV. Make sure your cables are good maybe even connecting your video source to a working TV just to be sure. If that checks out good it's possible you could have an issue with your temperature sensor. Try reseating it if that ...
Sounds like a sweet deal going on in South Florida. Thanks for sharing with us Scott. Hopefully the set will be of good use to someone which i'm sure it will be. Have a good weekend.
Hello, I am leaving a link that will take you to the owners manual. Sound issues are covered and I believe you should be able to get to the bottom of the problem which I am thinking some setting might be the reason you are not getting any sound. Let Me know how it goes and if you have any other ques...
Hello, From what you describe it sounds like either a ballast or colorwheel issue. Both of these when they are starting to fail will sometimes make a certain sound that can help in pinpointing the problem. Some people sometimes mistake the one sound for the other. The color wheel will usually make a...
Hello, If your original ballast still powers your lamp with no issues then their really ain't a reason to change it now. All the ballast does is power the lamp. When it starts to weaken as it will with time it will take longer to ignite the lamp, but as far as better picture quality unfortunately a ...
Hello, Since the ballast was replaced not too long ago we will assume the ballast is working fine. Another component that if failing won't allow the lamp to make the attempt to ignite is the color wheel. Color wheel's if they are starting to fail will sometimes make a whirling type sound which I wou...
Hello, From what you describe it sounds like the color wheel is starting to act up. I say this due to the description you gave as far as the whirling sound which is common when the color wheel is not functioning as it should. The reason you are getting a lamp error code is that anytime your TV sudde...
Hello, Please try the insrtructions below for the lamp timer reset. These should work for you. Please keep in mind that if the ballast has never been replaced before it's likely that the problem will be the ballast. This is what powers the lamp and with time this component loses the ability to produ...
Hello, Usually a buzzing type sound has to do with either the color wheel or the ballast. One way to distinguish one from the other is by placing your hand on top of the TV. If you feel any vibration the problem is more likely gonna be the color wheel. If you feel no vibration more likely the ballas...
Hello, Your JVC HD56FH96 is not a DLP rear projection TV. The technology used in your TV is LCOs or liquid crystal on silicone. This technology doesn't use a color wheel. Instead there are three chips that produce the color. One for red, One for green and another for blue. The blue chip might be nee...
Hello, Please be sure the lamp door is closed completely otherwise the TV won't turn on. If the lamp door is closed it's possible the ballast is no longer putting out the power a new lamp needs to ignite. Please advise on whether the lamp door was closed so we can go from there to further trouble sh...
Have you tried connecting it to one of the other inputs ? If not I would try that. If you are still having problems it's possible your input output board might need replacing.
Hello, If the ballast has not been replaced in the past it's likely its starting to act up. If the ballast is no longer putting out the voltage the lamp needs to remain lit the lamp will shut off and your TV will shut itself down. I don't see how a reception problem can shut down the TV. Check to se...
Hello, Keep in mind that even though the color wheel spins it doesn't necessarily mean it's spinning at the correct RPM. If it's spinning slower that what it's supposed to the DMD board detects this and thus shuts down the TV. Check to see if you here a buzzing or humming type sound. If so this can ...
Glad to hear you were able to get your TV going. Were here to assist so do not hesitate to reach out and ask for assistance. Hopefully you won't need any anytime soon but if you were to we will gladly provide that assistance.
Please advise if you have replaced the lamp before. If so how long ago ? Also check to see if you hear any sounds like buzzing or humming coming from the TV. Please also advise as to how old the TV is. We'll be looking out for your reply so that we can try to pinpoint the problem.
Hello, Because the ballast puts out real high voltage it's pretty much impossible to test the ballast. The location of the ballast is usually always just on the other side of where the lamp is located. You can follow the wires that connect to the lamp and housing. They will lead you to the ballast. ...
Hello, Can you advise if you hear any humming or buzzing type sounds coming from the TV ? The thing is that the ballast which is the component that powers the lamp is consumable like the lamp. After so long this component will need replacing. A weak ballast will either not put out the power the lamp...
It sounds like your light tunnel could be needing adjustment. Please check out the link I am providing. It's a YouTube video which shows how to make this adjustment. I believe this should help. Please let me know how it turns out.
The back should be the way to get to this button although you might have to remove a board or two to get to it. Please let me know if your able to get to it or not.
Hello appleads, I believe the front is not the way to get to the power button. I believe the back is where you would need to go through. I am confirming this and will post more information shortly. I wanted to advise now of the possibility of going about this the wrong way so that you don't end up r...
Hello EdRod, I believe what your talking about is the window where the light shines thorough the wheel. I could be mistaken but if you can provide images that would be helpful. If you ordered the wheel with the housing I believe you don't have anything to worry about. Still keep me updated but I bel...
Hello, Keep in mind that your television has a color wheel which if failing won't allow for the lamp to ignite. Basically the ballast never gets the signal to send the voltage to ignite the lamp. The color wheel came to mind when you mentioned a loud fan bearing noise. A lot of times people assume i...
I bad digital video board can't prevent the lamp from turning on. I must say your situation does seem a little odd. I will do a little research and see if maybe I can track one of these power boards for you. Also I want to look further into your symptoms. I will post a reply for you tomorrow. I am t...
The ballast does not control the fans. Please make sure the lamp door is closed fully. There is a sensor switch there and the ballast will never make the attempt to ignite the lamp if this is not seated or closed properly. Please advise if the door was closed or not.
Hello, You mentioned you had replaced the color wheel previously. How long ago was this ? The reason I ask is that you also mentioned that this buzzing sound would be noticeable at times when the TV would shut itself down. Color wheels when starting to fail will make more of a humming sound which so...
Hello, Although the best thing would probably be to have a certified technician take a look at the the TV, from what you describe it sounds like the DMD board can actually be the culprit. The DMD board on the DLP TV is designed to reflect light through a color wheel by controlling a large number of ...
Hello, If the same capacitor has blown on both ballasts you could be having a problem with your power supply. The ballast board should be receiving 350 volts from the power supply. You can confirm this using a multi meter. If the voltage is higher than that you will more likely need to replace the p...
Hello, I looked into this and from what I was able to find out is that on average there should be 350 volts going to the ballast. It sounds like you are under that. This makes me believe that the power supply could be the problem. I hope this helps you some. Remember we are here to assist so don't h...
Hello, The issue certainly sounds like the ballast board although you say you purchased one already. I am leaning towards the ballast maybe not performing as it should. Keep in mind that the power supply could be not providing the proper voltage to the ballast. Please give me a couple days and I wil...
Hey Mastiffmama judging by the work that has been done to your set it might be the fans, Id suggest checking both fans ( i believe this model has 2 ) to make sure they are running. If the fan behind Lamp does not run the T.V will not light lamp. One thing you can try is cleaning the fans with compre...
Hey vieranole usually when the unit turns off, there may be a light blinking on the front panel. Depending on the frequency and combination of that flashing, you can probably diagnose the issue if you still have the original manual but it could be a possibility that maybe the fans aren't cooling the...
