Re: shadow line

Hello :F Does your TV looks one of this??? http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h109/hexadecimal_2006/TVD.jpg If it looks like the one on the top, like a shadow/discoloration, Is going to be a problem with the color wheel. that could be a problem with your color wheel.
Since your color wheel is not working properly that's why it shuts down. Your TV cant complete the "turning on" cycle.

I was viewing a program on my HL-R4667W when the screen went black, came back on momentarily a couple of times and went black for good. The three blinking indicator LEDs "suggested" that the lamp needed replacement. I tested the lamp with a VOM minus the then knowledge that it was a mercu...

About the fan...try to clean the fan. Sometimes they stop working because they get stuck with dust.
In case that doesn't help try to replace that fan.

About the humming/buzzing sound...

Most probably is going to be your color wheel.

Re: lamp

It all depends on the wattage of your ballast.

If you have a 100W ballast with a 120W lamp...your ballast will be short for 20W to ignite the lamp.
Basically it would not work...and if it does is not going to work properly

Re: When it's inadvisable to reset lamp timer

YUP :D

The reason for that is because...there's an average hours of usage for the lamp. Now if you try to squeeze more hours to a lamp, basically you're forcing the life spawn of the lamp, making your ballast to work the double to ignite the lamp/ keep powered on.
