Re: Lamp, ballast,color wheel

I suggest you buy the bare lamp, the ballast & the color wheel on your own (remember to order them by part number) to save some money, remember to get the part number of both ballast & color wheel from the actual part, and then find a reliable & honest technician so he can install them, ...

Mmmmm, DMD? I would disagree, in picture no. 2 the tv menu looks unaffected by the vertical lines, so the DMD is fine, in this case it would be the digital board that probably has some swollen capacitors or something else wrong.

Have you cleaned the inside of the TV in the last 6 months? Normally dust & mold accumulates inside, and from the sound of it the light engine’s mirrors are clogged up. Try using a can of compress air and tell me if it works out for you.

Here is one way of reseting your lamp timer, hope it works.
press recall and Volume- till solid screen shows, then hit recall till you see codes on top left, then hold volume- and mute(same time) till all codes return to 000000000000.
Good luck.

Negative, I don’t think it’s the power supply, if it was you wouldn’t get any picture at all, check the digital board for any swollen capacitors at the top and replace them, if not then buy a new one and replace the entire board, good luck.

Re: HLN5065W won't start--Help!

That’s definitely a color wheel problem. That high pitch sound is probably the bearing that’s worn out, you see in these TVs there are sensors all around and if one component fails that the whole TV shuts off for security measures. My suggestion is you first buy a new color wheel (its either the gol...

Ok az240z. It sound like you have a expired lamp, these lamps commonly go out in two ways, one is when the lamp explodes (you hear a loud pop and the TV goes black), and the other is when the lamps starts to fade in intensity until you cant see the picture (like in your case). The light engine is a very delicate and complex part; it’s composed of mirrors and or a prism. So it’s very, very difficult to repair, my advice is to replace the color wheel, and if that pink shade still remains then its definitely the light engine.

If the capacitors have a round top instead of a flat one, then you need to replace them, otherwise you will have to buy a new board.

How long ago did you purchased your TV?

Negative, the DMD board is like the brain of the TV, it controls the color, light and mirrors to produce the image on the TV (think of it as the President of your TV) and the video board interacts with all the external hardware connected to the TV and sends a signal to the DMD to project a picture o...

That sounds like a DMD board going bad, but if you want to be more sure buy the entire light engine with the DMD included, if you already tried to connect all of the digital (HDMI, computer VGA) & analog (VCR, old DVD) inputs that we can rule out the video board.

Hope it works.
