Re: Looks like it was the temp sensor

Repairmen always want to blame the lamp first. My first reaction was it's the lamp too, but of course the best techs always know not to suggest that until all the facts are available!!! You didn't suggest to your repair man you thought it might be the "temp sensor" did you? If they're goin...

Re: Screen flashing in multiple colours

I always recommend a certified tech do the repair, but with everyone on a tight budget these days it's understandable if you try and do it yourself. You may have blown your X-sus board with this repair. The problem was most likely the X all along. I recently purchased a PCB - Y-SUSTAIN FOR MAGNAVOX ...

Re: Toshiba 62HM14 Picture turns off

Might be the ballast.. You ever have this issue before? Is there any color distortion? Loud humming sound? Those might mean it's the color wheel. I just replaced the lamp on my 62HM14. It will run for a while, then the picture will turn off. I have to unplug and plug in the set several times before ...

Re: RCA HD50LPW175 Humming/Buzzing Noise?

RCAs are notorious for faulty color wheels. The sound is a ballbearing going bad... Think of tiny metal balls grinding against eachother. That's the screeching you're all hearing. Color wheel... Final answer. lost for words Submitted on 2008/11/08 at 3:57pm hello, I have the HD50LPW175. After 6 mont...

Re: 50" Samsung DLP HDTV 3 lights Flashing

Sounds like you bought a Porsche! Jk The problem with warranty repair is that repair shops never purchase "new" or OEM parts. Most of the time they spend months getting a used part or generic lamp just to finish the repair-- plus it's cheaper. It's best to do a little research to see if th...

Re: Samsung DLP Keeps Turning Off?

An intermittent lamp problem usually means bad lamp or ballast. 7700 hours is a good long life for a lamp. I'd say buy a new lamp and see if that works... It's cheaper than a repairman and you'll need a new one anyway. Go to discount-merchant for the OEM philips. I have the same problem as some othe...

Re: 50" Samsung DLP HL-P5067W WONT START!!

What was it doing before it stopped working? What kind of lamp did you replace it with? 2 things it could be if not the lamp: ballast or color wheel. Also did you try the lamp cover? Jiggle that blue switch before you close the door. My Tv wont start up. The start tone sounds and all three lights bl...

Re: Dell W4200 HD PLASMA

You replaced two caps on the power supply? Did you take a probe and run it through all the ICs on that board yet? I have a dell w4200hd tv that is not turning on. I get the blue light after I power on, the ballast cycles a loud click, but then I get a red light on the board. I have replaced 2 caps t...

Re: colors on a dlp

Tom, It's possibly the light engine... but what you're describing to me is a bad color wheel. The color wheel is apart of the light engine and can usually be replaced for about 100 bucks. You might want to call around for Toshiba parts and find out if they carry them. Discount-Merchant.com has some ...

Be kind, no flames. Try and posts questions and answers in the same topic heading. The last thing I want is for someone to be reading about how to repair their philips ballast in the Toshiba DLP section. As always, keep it clean! :)

Re: WD-52725 Solid Green Light, No Picture

Possibly a bad ballast, but it also may be a bad lamp. Where did you get the lamp? My WD-52725 has a problem that I've yet to read about. Hopefully someone can give me some insight as to what the issue is and how to go about troubleshooting it. Upon plugging the set into the surge, it blinks green a...

Re: DLP HLT5076SX won't turn on

Fred, You also might want to try pulling the TV away from the wall and running a fan behind it. If it's a cooling problem, that should temporarily solve it--and you'll know you will need to either replace a temp sensor or a fan. Thanks. It may well be that the fan is intermittently not working. I do...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

Robert, You might want to try different cables. That looks like interference to me caused by a bad cable. Like Ovadoggvo suggests, you should try your menus too or different inputs such as video games or DVD players. Definitely try other connections first. I have a Samsung HLM617W that has diagonal ...

Re: Mitsubishi WD-62725 Problems?

There are a few LED lights on the front of that TV. Exactly which lights are on and what are the lights doing? You may have an overheating issue, and in that event, you should try to move the TV away from the wall. Have you replaced the lamp? The lamp may be to blame if it's been more than a few yea...

Re: Samsung hls7646 Lamp Keeps Blowing Out?

Yes, the dynamic picture setting does lessen the bulb life, but it's entirely negligible if you're replacing lamps every year. Name brand lamps such as Philips should last between 2-3 years or more, especially since it is the OEM lamp. If you're replacing with a lamp other than Philips brand, then t...

Re: PT50LC13 With No Picture, Lamp Indicator Flashing

It's possible that it may be the lamp. Sometimes lamps will die out after a few years of use without imploding, but what's common with Panasonics is the lamp and ballast going out at the same time. Usually a capacitor on the ballast fails causing the lamps to fail. Just Google "ballast repair k...

Re: Samsung DLP HL-P6163W - Pop & Humming Sound

Greg, a loud humming is most likely associated with a color wheel or a fan. If you have sound and no picture, this is usually caused by one of three things: Lamp, Ballast, or Color Wheel. These parts are all roughly around $100 and are fairly easy fixes, with exception of the color wheel which takes...
