most probably just need to reset the lamp timer. See, The ballast is still sending voltage for the old lamp, therefore the image is still dim.

well don't be so quick on discarding the ballast because if the lamp timer hasn't been reset " on some tv's" the timer lets the ballast know what voltage to send to the lamp. Also the ballast IS a consumable part and unfortunatelly Samsung, has a terrible rep on their ballast (check class ...

It seems that you may have damaged the port itself. You can just open the panel on the tv and check that port internally see if it has been detached from the tv from frame. If you need to get that port just get the part number from it and call in to see if the guys at discount-merchant have it avail...

This is probably a safety feature or the heat sensor is not responding to the fans, if they aren't working that's why.

all you have to do is check if the fans are working. If they aren't just get the part number from them and call in to double check soon after yo order just open the tv back up and replace the fans. Truly as easy as it sounds.

It can be a number of things. First the lamp it's fine and it is lighting up. More than likely the ballast is not sending the right voltage to your lamp. If the lamp light is on at anytime you may also need to reset the lamp timer. That might help.

It can be that the colorwheel simply gave up. You can open the back panel of your tv and check for physical damage on it, however for the colorwheel you don't always have the Noise indicating failure. It can just loss calibration and well... The part is a consumable part.

well this is a sign that the dmd board might be defective, but your friend may have a pint, open your tv and check all the connectors and signal boards to make sure everything is attached and connected correctly.

more than likely you just need to replace the lamp. If you had other lamp changes recently, it can also be your ballast board.

The best way to verify that is to call DM, and have one of the guys double check compatibility on the model and part number from the tv and lamp they sent. Now, keep in mind that your tv does have other consumable parts and well if the lamp aren't lasting you at least 1. yr to 2 yrs. More than likel...

you can use your vacuum, just be careful not to touch anything, It is preferred that you use a compressed air can and blow thw dust out.

It is possible that the connector from the lamp melted into the connector from the ballast board. Rare but it has occurred in my experience. Hello.
Some times, if the tv doesn't have an automatic reset on the "lamp timer" you'd have to do it manually with the original remote. menu, setting then find the lamp timer reset.

Possible power supply issue, there are the main supply board and the auxiliary board. They manage and filter the voltage given to your internal parts in the tv lamp, ballast, power supply boards. This type of issue is better managed by a local repair person.

There might be a setting to reset to the original default settings, However the code or button can be found (if available) in you tv's manual. Unfortunately the manufacturers don't post this info.

Really the best thing is to keep your tv set at a place where air can run right through the tv. You have to have the vents open other wise the tv will overheat, Once every 3. months, dust it out with a compressed air can.

Well most Philips. lamps have the logo on them but some do not. I suppose the way to go about it is by calling the company you're getting the lamp from and verify all the info from the agent,supervisor that you speak to. Only major distributors have a good profile, Discount-merchant.com (TOPRATED)

To be honest plasma tv's are very hard to work with via chat. You can call a few local repair shops and get an estimate alone on the possible parts you may need replacing.

Well the lamp you have can definitely work for a Sony, tv there is not a universal lamp but multiple tv model and brands can share a particular tv model.
(not justifying the poor customer service from the repair guy though)

Well the fans should always be directing the air to the inside of the tv. I'm not sure I understand the question since you don't have to do anything to the fan, while replacing the lamp.

Depending on the noise you're haring there. There are only a few things that can produce audible noises. Would you say the noise is mechanical or electric? Buzzing, clicking etc...

Going by the symptoms you're mentioning is possible that your tv is having a power supply issue. If you have a chance, please post the full model number for the tv. And any other possible symptoms.
