Well... you could check your lamp, you're probably due for a new one by now. after the fist lamp replacement they tend to last a bit less, but since you have a fairly new ballast. I'd say if you need to only replace the lamp it'll be worth it to keep it.

well... If you have no picture, there are other components besides the lamp that could be affecting the image. if you hear a clicking, or a noise like an electrical buzzing. well your model # HLN507W, is for a samsung tv, Not sure why you'd have3 a toshiba lamp in your tv. But if that is the case you should get the philips lamp listed below.

fixmytv, it definitely sounds like a ballast problem the buzzing you're hearing is the ballast attempting to light up your lamp. It isn't very expensive. you can check for availability at discount-merchant.com. they have good prices.

Definitely worth fixing, You're looking at a ballast for this tv roughly $70. to $100. Bucks. If you have a good lamp, you probably won't have to worry about the set for a couple yrs.

Nimmer, it can be your ballast, the ballast board is in charged of providing your lamp with the proper voltage. Once the ballast starts going bad you CAN experience this symptoms. If your picture come on even for a sec. The lamp still doing it's job. Something else is provoking your light to come on...

dtrixny, did some research and I had no luck, finding the way to reset the lamp timer on your tv. Some tvs don't have a timer to re-set. It could be the case on your tv.

As far as the sound coming from the stereo and not the tv, check your connections. The dark picture can be attributed to the lamp, perhaps it's time to replace the lamp. If you've replaced your lamp recently, do check your ballast board.

that won't work. matter of fact I'm not sure if your local tv repair-shop would even have equipment to test a lamp.Ohm meter, won't help. Unless you have a ballast laying around to test it. You may not be able to.

do you hear like an electrical buzzing, or any clicking? if you do it can potentially be your ballast. check your lamp as well just to see if there's any physical damage, black dots, crack in the filament etc... There can be a couple of things here. Is the humming more like an electrical humming? or more like a mechanical humming. To get closer to your answer let me explain: the color wheel should provoke an extra vibration, the humming could be caused by the ballast, not being able to produce enough voltag...

The best way to get the right part number for your tv lamp. If you went to Discount-Merchant, I've used their search engine. Just enter the model # of your tv set and if they have it in stock, you'll get a reply with the lamp's part number.

It can potentially be your color wheel. Are you getting color distortion? Perhaps you could provide more details. I have heard a variation of this symptom. But color distortion was a key factor for my friend's tv.

Pepe's actually on point here, the parts that are potentially wrong on your tv set are inexpensive and it might be worth keeping it.
Personally I'd lean toward the ballast if the symptoms pepe mentioned are there.

Philips lamps are really the way to go. Unless you have a mitsu. I noticed that they burn up philips way before the estimated 8000 hrs. But this have originally Osram lamps. (some Mitsu models) Like... Model: wd-5262a.
