The color wheel's symptoms are usually a mechanical humming noise, a scritching loud noise. the image can also turn back and white and then there can be other symptoms.
The color wheel itself can be undamaged and the air barring can be rotating the wheel at the wrong RPM.

the ballast can range anywhere from $200.00 new from Samsung. Or try stores like Discount-merchant.com, partstore.com etc...

the thing with the ballast is that it will cost you more to have tested than to replace it. Keep in mind that it is a consumable part

The lines are a common and frequent sign of the DMD board. Place an advanced search to see other people's solution and problems. Just enter as key word vertical lines.

First thing is to check the lamp to see if it's been burned out. Depending on the result most of the time just replacing the lamp will take care of it. Some times the ballast will need replacing. If the color when you bought is used then you may have a problem with that. The RPM speed variates with the color wheels. barring can also be different.

Your tv does have a lamp that normally has be replaced after about 8000 hrs. That's if you have a Philips lamp. "most mayor tv brand carie it"

Unfortunately it is possible to be the bulb however Samsung, does have a bad reputation for having defective ballast boards "ballast powers up your lamp" it is a consumable part on your DLP. Check the lamp for damage.

Unfortunately the screen is a part that most places like Discount-merchant.com, partsore.com etc... they won't Carrie it. Price won't go down much. I'd keep checking on e-bay or somewhere like that.

if the projection wega you have there is DLP. the problem is more than likely due to a faulty color wheel.

well it can be the ballast board not sending the right voltage to your lamp, also...are you sure you reset the lamp timer correctly, cleared the hours back to "0" besides that well... If you bought a generic lamp, you may be subject to a faulty picture. depending on your tv brand, most tvs...

I see that your tv takes a LiFi lamp. Only the manufacturer would be able to supply it. Most online stores show different lamps so be careful and search for the right lamp.

It is very probable that you have a bad color wheel. The actual barring can be decalibrated by regular usage.

I would say you're on the right track, the only part in your that would produce that noise in your tv is the color wheel.

This is the most common and normal symptom when the lamp is going out.
I'd say you'll be needing a lamp soon. Make sure it is Philips lamp. That's the original lamp replacement.

Well... unfortunately Samsung, does have a bad rep when it comes to their ballast boards. If the lamp is igniting "it's a good working lamp" the ballast can run you only about 80-90 dollars at discount-merchant.com. fairly easy to replace at home.

check the ballast and lamp connectors just to make sure. If the ballast you bought was used it's possible that it is defective. Resetting the lamp timer might help. Other than that it can potentially be the power supply board not filtering the voltage going to your ballast properly. Not likely but p...

It's very possible that you have a power supply problem. Nothing seems to respond, typically the source can start there at the power supply board. HI, I checked the tv model you have there and the symptom is very common, ( color wheel ) this part is fairly inexpensive and it can be replaced with out calling the repair guy.

the lamp flashing symptom can also be caused by the ballast board not sending the correct voltage. There are sensors that detect for example, color wheel malfunctions, ballast, power supply etc...

First, the lamp has nothing to do with this particular problem. Lamp's job is simply to reflect white light.
However to let you know what could be causing the problem, please post the complete model number for your tv.

Check your lamp timer and make sure the hours have been cleared back to 0. Other than that check the connectors and make sure they are connected all the way in.

light tunnel issue. Maybe. But Im leaning toward the Bering, if it doesn't allow the correct RPM. speed the tv simply detects a malfunction and most likely that is the reason for the symptom.
