Re: Dell W4200 HD PLASMA

preludedez, The capacitors won't overbulg for no reason. They can dry out, but expansion is normally due to a failure within a resistance lead from or to the the caps. Check the SMD's for failure as well as the transistors on the board. It may be easier to replace the power supply. I would check pla...

Re: Samsung Won't Turn On

Rez,
Does your TV actually stay on for a while with no picture? Do you have audio during this time?

Does this happen on all inputs?

Re: Toshiba 62HM14 Picture turns off

brygar,
Does the actual lamp turn off or does the screen just go black with back light still on?

It may be a ballast issue as the Toshiba model you have has a common ballast failure. If the backlight is still on when this happens, your DMD board is starting to fail.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Vizio P50HDM XSUS board

xlm, The X-Sustain board and the Y-Sustain board are common problems on these Vizio P50HDM and P50HDTV sets. The Y-Sustain board (P/N: 6870QYC004A 6870QYC004B 6870QYC004C 6871QYH039A 6871QYH039B 6871QYH039C, 6870QYC104A, 6870QYC104B, 6870QYC104C, 6870QYC104D, EBR30597501) is the most common failure ...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

robertt4x4, DMD Board is my first guess if the menu still has the lines through it. The reason I say this is because the menu system is not processed through the DNIe chip. Thank you for the help. I brought the menu up and the lines still show up. I brought the PIP up with the same source just looki...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

preludedez, First of all... Be very careful powering down the TV using the power strip as it can damage your lamp, ballast, and power supply. When you turn off your TV using your power button or remote control, it does not technically turn off... It goes into standby mode which then detects the temp...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

sgoconnor, Have you done a hard reset and then tried to enter the service menu like i posted above? It's a bad situation because the problem could be with either the DMD board or Digital Board in your case... As mike b. had posted in the other forum, he changed his dmd with a similar issue and still...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

robertt4x4,
Press menu on your tv remote control. Do you experience the same lines on the menu system?

Bring up your PIP with a different input.. Do you have the same lines in your little Picture in Picture box?

Let me know so I can help diagnose further.

boblasek, I was having problems with the ecoustic forum too, that's why I migrated here. Have you trie...

Re: DLP HLT5076SX won't turn on

Fred, Can you tell me your lamp code? Your TV may have originally come with a 150W OSRAM bulb if it was a Costco model. Some costco models come with OSRAM lamps in order to keep production costs to a minimum. Unfortunately the OSRAM lamps last no longer than 12-16 months. It may just be a lamp issue...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

falltillfly, I would recommend buying a lamp first! That is the FIRST thing you need to do to diagnose further. I have had people change light engines, ballasts, dmd boards, and the only problem was that their lamp was never changed or it was changed with an aftermarket product! Buy a new lamp and i...

Re: DLP HLT5076SX won't turn on

FredK, Check to see if your fans turn on. There should be a fan right by the lamp door that cools the lamp. A fan failure can cause the TV to give you an overheating error. Fan #2 tends to be the most common to fail as it is closest to the lamp and the heat generated by the lamp. 18months? What is y...

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

falltillfly, What is the model number of your TV? When was the last time you replaced your lamp? If you have replaced it, did you replace it with a Philips brand bulb from an authorized distributor? Intermittent lamp problems are common these days with the lack of quality used in 3rd party or NON-Or...

Re: 50" Samsung DLP HDTV 3 lights Flashing

Bruce,
Unfortunately, your first diagnosis is a new lamp. It would be tough to diagnose your TV set without a new lamp. Once you have a new lamp, we can procede with the diagnosis of your color wheel, digital board, and DMD board.

Re: Samsung DLP Help!

To test to see whether or not your ballast is getting power, look at the test point in this photo. The voltage can be measured with a standard multimeter set to DC voltage. The current should be 320V to 380V .. If you are getting about 320V, this means that your power supply is functioning properly....

Samsung DLP Help!

John, The problem you are experiencing is MOST LIKELY a ballast issue. OSRAM lamps are not manufactured with the same quality and precion as the Philips lamps, hence, you are having a better chance with the Philips bulb. The intermittent power is normally a result of a "weak" ballast. OSRA...
