I don't recommend soaking anything! You may damage it further. Just a quick cleaning should do with a soft brush. Dip the brush into the alcohol and brush of the complete board.

I would order one that looks similar on D-M and see what happens.

What do you mean by grey? Does your remote control still work? Can you turn the TV off using the remote? What happens when you turn the TV on after a hard reset (unplug / plug back in)?

Try entering the service menu and doing a factory reset if you can.

kurtsweiland, A few things. Make sure you plugged both wires comming from the color wheel into the DMD board. There is 1 cable for the sensor and another one for the wheel. musowl, I would keep the lamp.. You will need a backup in either case. You don't want to be without a lamp, specially when you are still diagnosing your TV set. As for the temperature sensor.... DLPFan, It seems like your LCD light engine's color prisms are starting to deteriorate due to the heat of the lamp.
