You don't need to replace that. If you buy a new one from DM though it'll come with that paper, but it's supposed to protect in-case of explosions or something... I think its more of a liability than anything!

I'm not too familiar with DLP sets using LED lamps. The thing you have to be aware of is probably the color wheel if it's giving you a reddish tint. If it's like the traditional DLPs, the LED is just a light source for the DLP chip. Then the colors are provided by some sort of color wheel I think. T...

depends.. it's got something to do with either the lamp, ballast, or power supply. That's my guess. If you haven't replaced the lamp, you might want to try that first.. if you've already replaced the lamp, check the power supply to make sure none of the capacitors are blown out.

That's not enough information... The lamp is always the best place to start. Make sure the lamp is a Philips lamp first of all. Was there discoloration when it died? The color wheel could be going bad... it hasn't happened yet, but that's what a bad ball bearing sounds like inside a color wheel. You'll start to notice color anomalies eventually and then the TV will stop turning on.

That just sounds like a bad bulb. I'd get a new one to check it out. If you've had it for a few years, then it's definitely time for a new one. Otherwise, it could be a ballast issue or something keeping the lamp from igniting. From you post though, it sounds like the lamp.

You'll never get continuity on lamps like this. They don't have anything solid connecting the terminals, it's all gas. Gas ignites with voltage and lights up.

It really depends on the type of projector you have. The 150W is obviously a lot lower than the 200W. If you also replace the lamp driver, you're definitely going to have a compatible lamp and ballast, but was the projector made for use with 50W higher equipment? It might burn or melt something.

Yes, it is normal for the connection to be open because all lamps fail continuity tests. Unlike household lamps, these lamps use gas to generate light instead of a filament. The only way to test a lamp is to arc it with the ignition voltage necessary to light it up. And the only real quick and simpl...

that indicator works for the whole lamp/ballast system, so maybe there's a problem with the ballast. perhaps take it into the repair facility to ask them to see if the ballast is arcing. the ballast needs to shot high voltage into that lamp so if it can't do that, the lamp won't like up. if the prob...

Hey there. Sorry to say that techs can't always check the ballast and lamp combination. Some say they check it, but you have to be aware of how they check them. You can't check the lamp without a ballast, and a ballast that simply arcs doesn't necessarily mean it's working. The ballast is a very sen...

It's hard to make that determination without the actual wheel working. I'd take the wheel out first then spin it. If it's not spinning correctly, or you hear winding sounds then your wheel is the culprit. Chances are, the wheel is what's bad, not the DMD board.

The main things that cause the lamp to stop working is:
the lamp itself.
the ballast
the optical engine, or light engine--whatever you want to call it.
Basically if one of those components is bad, it'll tell the entire TV to stop working.
