ok this model is known for this issue. most common issue with this set. digital board issue. the tuner for tv channels is built into the digital board. could be an issue with the ballast. could be the high pitch of a capasitor. I am guessing you need a new ballast and a new lamp. These sets are known to have issues with the digital boards so you should be able to find used parts on DM or on ebay for not that much money. find the part number on http...

I had this issue were it just sits and will not show video or sound. ended up being a bad digital board. you may of received a bad digital board. everyone seams to think its the dmd or antalog board in this set and most of the time it's the digital board.

glad to hear the repair worked great for you. I hear some people saying the repair didn't work. I guess for 40 dollars how can you go wrong. If it doesn't work the first time he also offers a to reball the chip but that cost more.

I am guessing it could be the digital board. if you hit your menu buttons does the menu show up file or do the green lines show up in the menu? if they show on the menu then I would say dmd board but if they are not showing up on the menu screens then i would say digital board.

green plaid is the digital board. common issue with teh hlr5067w. if you hit your menu button you will see the green plaid doesn't show up in menus. and yes the digital board is the one that sometimes need the solder reflowed on the dnie chip.

just a can of compressed air and have the tv unplugged. you can use a sweeper for the bigger stuff just make sure not to nock into anything. dont use any kind of cleaners. don't want to get anything wet. shrikedoa I would start with the dmd board with the dmd chip. you see these tv's parted out a lot on ebay and the parts are not normaly that much. dmd board from an hlr-4667w to an hl-r6167w may work. you are better off looking the part number up on http://www.samsungparts.com and doing a search by ...

you could try a replacement ballast and a replacement power supply. Most likely it will be less for you to replace both then what it would cost for a tech to do it. if you do have a tech look at it. It will be less if you take the tv to the shop. Most places charge like 75 to show up at your house.

It has to be spinning for the lamp to come on. Replace the color wheel and if it did shadder make sure to clean out all the broken color wheel.

Check and make sure the part number of your color wheel is the currect one. you may of received a bad color wheel. The service menu it may give you a choice of what color wheel you are using. With the tv turned off press mute 1 8 2 power look threw the menus to make sure there isn't an option.

You wouldn't beleave the number of computers I repaired just by cleaning the fan/heatsink. People had issues of them crashing all the time. Here they were over heating. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs so I clean my tv out about once a year.

The dmd is on the back of the light engine. If faces you when you have the back off. It has a lcd chip on it and has a heatsink with a fan. if it's full of dirt it can't cool the chip and can make this issue happen. first off i would remove my new lamp and clean the glass eye that goes into the light engline to see if that helps. if that doesn't help i would then remove the cover on the color wheel and make sure nothing flaked off the color wheel. I would clean the fans first to make sure they are spinning. If they are spinning then it could be a power supply issue or a ballast issue. It could be other issues, but normaly powering off at odd times is a power supply or ballast.

are you sure the switch for the lamp door is working? also since it's happening with both the old and new. are you sure you didnt reverse a wire or leave a wire unplugged when you removed the light engine.

ok so the red lines do not show over your menu. since it doesn't show up on your menu then i would say it's a bad digital board. I wasn't meaning an option in the menu. i just wanted to know of the lines showed up when you were looking at the menu.

that kind of sounds like a digital board issue. did you replace the lamp with the same kind you had before? brand? you can enter the service mode and pick the kind of lamp you have. if the old lamp still worked before you replaced it you may want to try it to see if it works with the old lamp.
