closed caption failure in HL-R4667W

Greetings all from a newbie to FixYourDLP-

The OTA closed captioning has failed in my Samsung DLP HL-R4667W. It.no longer appears; C.C.'s are present on another TV (via its digital adapter, that is) so it's not an external problem. Normally, CC1 is the option I've been using but I've tried all the rest; no luck.

Will I be at the mercy of a repair facility or might I be able to fix it myself? The cheapest repair manual I find on line is $17 downloaded. Know of anything for less? Or is it worth it considering the prospective cost of the likely parts? I'm reasonably proficient (but not wealthy!).

Well now, unaccountably, the captions have returned. They continued to appear on my converter-box/analog TV all the time. But I'm suspecting a problem with the sending entity, perhaps affecting the c.c. channel received by my HDTV but not by the converter box. Hope they won't go away again...
