Is it the Bulb or Light Engine-Samsung HL-R6168

Postby DDPMSPH » Thu Sep 08, 2011 5:02 pm

I have a Samsung DLP Model HL-R6168 WX/XAA TV. Recently, half the screen will go dark while the other half still shows a picture. It happens sporadically. Originally I though the bulb (p/n: BP96-01073A(P)) needed replacement, but after talking to a bulb distributor, he said it's possibly my Light Engine.

The house has been remodeled lately and the TV has a lot of dust on the back. Just wondering if someone can help me better understand what could be causing the screen to go half dark. The bulb has never been replaced on the TV and I have had the TV since January 2006 (purchased new).

Thanks

Probably a bad DMD PCB
half the mirrors switching to the off position.
