SamsungDLP HLS5086w timerlamp standbytempred HELP

I own a samsung hl s5086w dlp and I have tried turning it on and the keeps coming on for a short time maybe thirty seconds but then goes off immediately, first the picture then the sound. When it comes on It has great sound and picture quality. On the round on/off switch it says "timer lamp stand by / temp " but the word "temp" is displayed in "red". This leads me to believe that the lamp is getting to hot and is shutting they system down. Now, I have no idea if this is true, it is just a guess from this grandmother / housewife. What can I do to fix the problem? I need help!! I am somewhat handy if I have direction. Thanks for your help. daisyjane

Check the thermostat it is located directly above the lamp housing assembly..
