Last night while watching tv the television made a loud pop, the picture got dull and started strobing and a very high pitched whirring came from the tv. I shut it down for a few minutes turned it back on the whirring sound was very loud and the picture was strobing. The light on the on off switch was blinking " light" but I replaced the lamp several months ago.

I am assuming it is the color wheel but am also concerned about the whirring noise.
What could that be?
