Samsung Model HLP5085W DLP Shut down issue

Postby PkRockit » Sat Jun 12, 2010 1:29 pm

My DLP TV shuts down between 5 and 45 minutes and shows a Triangle with bulb symbol on the front panel. I can immedietly restart the set and the cycle repeats itself. I have cleaned the inside of my set, reset the lamp housing, and the fans seem to be working properly. When the set is on the picture is fine. Does the set sense when the bulb is ready to fail? or ? Any help before I just start buying parts would be appreciated.

Hello PkRockit.
All those symptoms are commonly related when a lamp is about to go out. it also sound like you have never replaced your lamp. How long ago did you purchase your TV?
Normally a TV lamp last you from 2 – 3 years (4000+ to 6000+ hrs). There is high probability that the mercury gas inside of the TV is running out. My recommendation is that you replace your lamp.

Good luck.

Thanks very much. I have replaced the lamp almost 2 years ago. My set is 5 years old. My first lamp died instantly. This one is acting differently. I will replace the lamp. Thanks for the help.
