HL-R6178W LOSES PICTURE, SOUND CONTINUES, THEN SET SHUTS OFF

Postby Jerryatrick » Wed Jul 09, 2014 11:15 pm

Problem is intermittent and seems different from the various "shutdown" scenarios I've researched; i.e. the set does not initially lose all power...it loses PICTURE but the sound continues for a few seconds, then it shuts off too. At that point all the lights on the little control panel go out. So far, it has responded immediately when I turn it back on. All suggestions appreciated!

hello!

Given what you just described and my own personal experience with my Samsung DLP, when was the last time you changed the lamp??

I get this same scenario every 18 months or so and it means it is time to change the lamp.

If you plan to do so soon, make sure you buy an original OEM Philips bulb when ordering the replacement lamp. They last longer, they are the ones Samsung installs from factory, and they give the brightest picture.

I included a link to a reliable source I use for my clients as well as my own, I hope it helps, the lamp code your TV uses is a Samsung BP96-01099A for the HL-R6178W series.
