Hi Mr Hooper,

Let me ask some of the experts and see what we can get happening for you. Definitely NOT your lamp or your ballast/

Regards,

Maurice

Hey hooper

It does sound like Bad Caps, if you have some experience with sodering it can be an easy fix and you can save yourself a couple hundred bucks =)

I was recently given a HL72A650 because the owner had given up trying to fix it. Turned out it had two bad capacitors on the power supply board. You may want to check all the components and all their resident capacitors to see if any have gone bad (bulging at the top). It may not seem logical, but a bad capacitor can generate all kinds of different issues.
