Samsung HLP5063WX bulb

Postby epinionated1 » Sat Sep 04, 2010 6:01 pm

So Ive had a Samsung HLP5063WX for at least 5 years now and when I bought it, it had a warrenty so its been fixed 3 times where theyve replaced all the parts. Now its out of warranty and the color wheel was making a loud sound. Finally last week the tv made a really loud clunk and went black and white.
I opened it up and sure enough the color wheel had exploded.
I ordered a new one and installed it and now the problem Im having is just the Standby and Lamp light are flashing. I took a closer look at the bulb and it appears that the element is broken and refused in an X. Though Im not sure if its supposed to be like that. Does it sound like the bulb is bad? I attached a pic if anyone has seen a new one up close? Maybe when the wheel exploded it took the bulb with it?

The lamp seems to be fine honestly, Im thinking that the ballast is just not sending the proper voltage or perhaps not sending any voltage to the lamp at all. Ballast board is unfortunately a consumable part that does affect the lamp primarily.
