Did you know about the color wheel aftermath?

Postby DrDragon » Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:43 am

Ok, I replaced the color wheel and the picture is bad. Purple here, green there. If the info is in another thread I never saw it. After searching other sites I see that after replacing the color wheel you need to go into service mode and follow 7 to 12 steps. Also I need a service manual. "BT@$JHOJN231$#$!"
And I need to go through 2 bags of kitchen trash, (YUCK) to find some sticker that came with the color wheel. (Who knew it was important?)

Is this right?

Oh yeah, I have a HLP5063WX/XAA.

I tried unplugging it, plugging it back in then selecting Mute, 1,2,8, POWER to enter service menu but that didn't work.

OK I got into the factory menu. However without knowing what to do from there I can't do much. Any ideas?

I have a completely different set, so this may not apply at all to yours, but may give you an idea. In the "Alignment and Adjustments" section of the service manual I have copied what I think is the relevant information for my set. You may need to find out if the settings for yours are different?:

1. Enter the service mode by pressing the remote control keys in the following sequence :
Mute -> 1 -> 8 -> 2 -> Power On
Note : If necessary, re-do steps 1~3.

1. DDP1010 (ALL)
2. DNIe (ALL)
3. AD9883 (Component/480P)
4. VPC3230 (RF/VIDEO/480I)
5. JAGADC (PC)
6. FLI2300 (RF/VIDEO/480I)
7. 3D_COMB (ALL)
8. OPTION

Check the noise state of the color wheel.
1) If the noise of color wheel is loud, replace
the engine or the color wheel.
2) When the color wheel is replaced, make sure
to adjust the delay value of 1.DDP1010 to
factory settings.
(Adjust to the position where the color red is
strongest.)

1. DDP1010

ITEM = Delay
ADRESS = 0x21
MIN = 0
MAX = 359
DEFAULT = 223
DESCRIPTION = Color wheel index delay calibration value

Thanks DaveC,
I've ordered a service manual. I guess I should if I'm going to fiddle more with it.
