I get more and more spots each day.

Postby UgaDawg78 » Wed Apr 29, 2009 1:31 am

Hey Everyone,
I am new to the forum and new to messing around or troubleshooting TV's but I do maintenance for a living.

I have a 50" Samsung DLP TV HL-S5086W and I have just started experiencing some problems with the picture. I have started having some white spots when a black screen or black color is on the TV, it started out as just one spot, but now I have about 7 or 8 of them. Just the other day I had one that stayed on white the whole time.

I am looking for any help I can get and if I can fix it instead of having to look for a new one that would be great.

Thanks again
Patrick

UgaDawg78,

It's either your DMD chip or DMD board. Your DMD board houses you DMD chip. Your DMD chip houses millions of micro mirrors. The chip tilts back and forth very quickly and so do the mirrors, which project the light onto your TV screen. If it's not working properly it will cause the white spots because the mirrors are stuck in one place so it creates only white light. I would try replacing the chip before anything else.
