Just replaced a lamp and now I have a question.

Postby EDERDS » Mon Jun 22, 2009 2:14 am

I just replaced a lamp in my Samsung HLS5087WX/XAA. I purchased the lamp from DM, so it is a original Phillips. Problem I'm having now is that the picture isn't as sharp now as it was with the 9000 plus hour lamp that just had to be replaced. What I mean when I say not as sharp is that the picture has more of a grainy look than before and night scenes really blur out and look bad. Was wondering if anybody knew of some type of adjustment to help this.

Hi EDERDS.

Well, if you have a bright picture then your lamp is not the problem. Does this problem happen with all the inputs?

Both inputs do the same thing. I'm using HDMI cables. It's just not a clear picture anymore. The darks are blurred. Shadows and smoke are very blurred. It looks the way it does when you might not be receiving a good satellite signal, but my signal meter on the satellite receiver shows 97 and 98 and just changing the lamp wouldn't effect that. Just wondering what could have happened. I ordered the lamp with the housing. Is it possible that the lamp might not be seated properly? Does a color wheel generally go out altogether or could that be a problem? It's frustrating.

It could be the digital board.

Test 1: Display the TV menu and tell me if it's also grainy.

Test 2: Try with an analog input and check if the problem persists.

Get back to me once you have completed these tests.
