Lamp of Ballast?

Postby Bsnman05 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 2:53 pm

Thank god for this site! Here is my dilema....

*Samsung HL-S4676S
*Bought in 11/2006, Lamp replaced 11/2008
*Yesterday, the picture went blank, then it turned off without the "chime down" sound
*All three indicator bulbs were flashing on front
*I opened the Lamp housing, took out the lamp, cleaned some dust off, and reset it.
*It worked for about 30 minutes, then shut off again without "chime down"
*I tried to turn it on later and I got a weird sound kind of like a light bulb shorting out (not a clicking), like an electircal buzzing/short sound
*It also would "recycle" and would 1. Chime Up 2. make that weird "electrical short sound" 3. Click Off 4. Chime up and start the process over WITHOUT me touching anything

ANy advice would be great!

Hi Bsnman05.

It seems to be your ballast. When this device fails the TV thinks the problem is with the lamp since it's not turning ON, so it shows the three leds blinking. I think the only two devices in your TV that can produce that noise are the ballast and the power supply, but when is a power supply issue the TV doesn't cycle, when the ballast is the problem it does.

So my suggestion is to replace it.

Hope this helps.
