Lamp or Ballast question

Postby jimmy » Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:06 pm

I have a Samsung DLP model HL-75075s / lamp code BP96-01659A(P132W). i bought it 2ys ago.. within 1 year the bulb went.. my house watches alot of TV and i do have little kids that love to keep turning it on and off.. SO we bought a new bulb for it and didnt know anything about resetting the timmer till reading these posts.. so i didnt do it.. after replaceing the bulb 4months later it went again... ive be told its the ballast but wanna make sure before i shell out the money..
Thanks. ;)

Hi Jimmy.

Most probably it's just the bulb again, since you watch a lot of TV it's a normal thing (it also depends on the lamp brand). There a small probability it's the ballast, however I wouldn't be sure, since your lamp lasted 4 months.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.. After reading some post about reseting the timmer I thought I mite try it... My tv has been off for about a month while I got money and info about it... So I pugged it in and turned it on when I did the code the screen turned on for about 20sec then went black with 3flashing lights.. Does this help in deciding if its ballast or bulb?? Also is there a best brand bulb to buy? I think we bought som cheap piece of crap from china..

Thanks for your help!

After re-reading this, I think you might have mistyped your lamp part number. I believe you have a BP96-01659A...correct me if I'm wrong, but you might have read the "9" as a "3" - from looking it up with Samsung, your part number does not exist.

Cheers,

If you buy at discount-merchant you'll get a good price and the best brand for DLP lamps, which is Philips.

Here is the link to the lamp you need:

Hope this solve your problem ;)

That's the most probable cuprit, do you have any strange noise coming from the TV?

Check if the color wheel is spinning freely, just to be on the safe side.

You can also check the temperature sensor and clean the inside of the TV with a can of compressed air, all these tests could lead to a cheaper solution.

Hope this helps.
