Samsung DLP posterization / color banding?

Postby josefismael » Fri Jun 17, 2011 4:04 am

I've recently started seeing some posterization / banding on my Samsung DLP. It's an older model (maybe 2006-2007) so not sure if this is just the symptom of the tv dying. I can't say I would mind an excuse to buy a skinny new LCD ;) but if I don't need to I'm not gonna.

All the searching I've done on this issue seems to point to problems with the input media, but I've tried the HDMI, VGA and composite ins and all exhibit the same problem.

Thoughts on what might be the problem here? lamp? board? color wheel? Any help would be appreciated....thanks in advance!

Hello,

First thing that comes to mind is the DMD board, but can you post a picture of the malfunction or describe it in a detailed way? The fact that it does so on all inputs is of big help to diagnosing it.
