Samsung HLS6187W Dim picture...Help...

Postby orbit308 » Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:01 pm

I have a Samsung HLS6187W that is about 4 1/2 years old. I have never replaced the bulb or anything, great tv. Recently the picture is very dim. To put it in perspective, it looks like someone put in a 40 watt bulb instead of a 100w(picture when it was new). I turned the brightness up all the way and it had no change at all in quality. Any ideas?
Thanks

Yes! this lamp gave you a good lifespan but I am afraid it is time to replace it! to get that bright "like new" image again make sure to get a Philips brand lamp, it is what Samsung uses from factory ;)

I buy my clients lamps @ www.discount-merchant.com

hope this helps!

HA! I think I might be having the same problems with my TV. I have the 56" DLP and it only looks dim when you stare straight at it. If you stand up or look at it from a higher elevation it brightens up?

Lemme know what you guys think.

Hello!

That can actually be a sign of the lamp that is days from going out! how long ago did you last replace the lamp?

Yes is could because of the luminosity. The lamps these use are very bright and once the Mercury in them begins to diminish, the image dims out...

so having to stand up to actually see the image clearly means the lamp is def. going out? This may sound like a stupid question but if my source for light is ran off of 3 LED's would that still be the issue, because the DLP i have is a LED DLP (Samsung HLT5687SAX) and I am not sure if it has a "regular" lamp

So I retract that last message....it is NOT a LED DLP...I took it apart like I did when I replaced the red LED on my 50" and instead of having the cooling fins attatched to the whole LED assembly it had a bulb that was easily removed....so you really think that it is the bulb going out then huh?

you must mean its an "LCD" DLP (it has 3 LCD chips R,G & B). But yes I do stand by my first deduction...
