RCA M50WH92SYX1 indicator lights?

So my TV turns on fine, then after about 2 mins I loose the picture (keep the sound) and the power light will flash 5 times and then the picture powers back up. This cycle then just keeps repeating itself. RCA told me it is the bulb, I had another technician from a DLP website say it may be the ballist (sp??). I hate to invest in either without knowing which one. Any thoughts or ideas???

THanks,
Jennie

monkeyjj,

Well it's most likely your Ballast. You can actually take your lamp out of your TV and look at it yourself. You can tell if it's broken or not it's very noticeable. But from what you've said it surely sounds like you need a new Ballast. If you have more information get back to me. Thanks.

hmotes,

So it's most likely also, your Ballast. Did you take out your lamp to see if it was broken? Let me know if you have anymore information. Thanks.

hmotes,

I believe it's your ballast then. If I were you I would locate the ballast part # and call discount merchant. You need to replace it so your lamp will ignite and give you a picture.

Hello, I'm new here and hate to bring up an old topic... but I'm having the same issue.

I just picked up a M50WH195SYX1 from someone and they said the lights just flashed and wouldn't turn on.

I pulled the bulb out, it doesn't look blown but the connections weren't tight at all.

I tightened up the wire held to the back of the bulb (on the stud)
and the other one with a phillips screw.

Plugged the TV in and it came on fine... stayed on for a few minutes and the picture went out but the sound stayed on.
It comes and goes off and random times.

I have a 61'' RCA that I just replaced the bulb on as well, and it had a noticable "hole" where had blown inside the bulb.
This one however doesn't have that.

I found a ballast on ebay, do you think that is the problem?
