WD 62628 picture shape adjustment?

Just got a Mitsubishi WD 62628 back into working order, new bulb, cleaned the big mirror, lens and inside of the screen. Beautiful picture but the shape is a bit wonky with a downward dip across the top, with the left corner higher than the right.

Don't have a remote and haven't found any shape, size, position adjustments in the menus accessible with the buttons on the TV. Does the remote access additional functions? The TV is only used with a computer, currently using Component 1 input. I had to use the nVidia control panel to shrink the desktop so the 1280x720p wouldn't overscan.

Can overscan be eliminated in the TV so the computer's video can be set to full 720p resolution?

Will using the PC HDMI input fix any of this?

I have this same general issue with my 73733. I'll post how I fixed it once I figure it out. There are controls for this, you just have to know how to access them.

There's pieces of tape or something on the edge of the mirror. Perhaps those are shims used to gently warp the mirror to correct for issues with the plastic housing where it rests? I'd expect that over time the plastic might sag.

Main issue is with the overscan. Still need to get a DVI to HDMI cable, or a PCIe x16 video card with HDMI out.

Higher end video card software should have overscan adjustments.

All new Mac computers have this built in by going to System Preferences > Displays > Underscan.

Also you could try to press the MENU button on your remote, followed quickly by the numbers 2457. Then press the "Play" and "Rewind" buttons twice to activate the test pattern feature.

I would also download a service manual from online. This will save you a lot of time and make all the adjustments much easier. Simply search for "Mitsubishi WD 62628 Service Manual".

The computer isn't a Macintosh, it's an old dual core socket 939 AMD x64 running XP, with a GeForce 8800GT. I installed the OpenCL/CUDA Strongene H.265 software that enables GPUs without built in H.265 decoding to do it anyway. The olde box can play 1080p H.265. :)

Also, don't have the original remote. Got a part number I can search for to find one?

nVidia drivers have adjustments where the active video area can be reduced to compensate for overscan. But that doesn't put the whole 1080i image on screen. It's still overscanning.

Looking through the WD-62628 service and training manuals there doesn't appear to be any mechanical or electronic adjustment for overscan. Quite the omission on a TV that cost as much as this one did when new! The only electronic adjustments are for rotation, vertical keystone, and horizontal keystone. Have to buy or make a 4mm hex and 5mm allen drivers at least 10" long to jack the light engine bracket around.

After getting that adjusted will come shimming the mirror to take care of the barrel distortion. @#%@#@ expensive TV should have a 4th screw to raise/lower the light engine to adjust overscan. Perhaps if a person was especially ambitious some shims could be installed under the engine mounts to raise it and thus optically shrink the projected image.
