WD-73735 Dim after bulb change

Postby Cpnneeda » Sun Sep 18, 2016 9:57 pm

So as it states, I changed the bulb in my 73735, during that time I also changed the chip in order to get rid of the white dots. TV powered back up and ran just as new, brilliant picture as always. 3-4 weeks later and the picture is just as dim, if not dimmer, than before the bulb change. I pulled the bulb (which btw is an Osram bulb) just to inspect it for any damage and found none.

So now I ask of you, what should I look at next? Ballast? Board? Another Bulb? I figured I'd post here and read some replies before I start buying stuff.

Hello,

I am assuming your bulb is under warranty still. If that indeed is the case I would try an exchange. If you were to have the same situation then the ballast would be the part to replace.

Thanks, I don't have a clue if it is, so i'll just source another and grab a ballast while I'm at it. I don't mind having parts on hand.

Thanks for the reply.

Ballasts are a common failure as these sets age. You've swapped the lamp already, so swap the ballast nest. If problem still persists, suspect a bad lamp. There are lots of bad ones out there and you never know who may be pawning off crap for brand name merchandise.
