I have a 2007 Mitsubishi WD-65733 which now has over 100 white dots on the screen. It started with about 6 dots and every day more appear randomly. Does anyone know what is causing this and what needs to be done? We called a local repair shop and they have never seen this happen. We did not get an extended warranty with this tv. Another forum said this might be the light engine? Does anyone else have this problem and how did you fix it? Thank you.

It's an issue with the dmd chip with the LCD. I know samsung is fixing this issue for free but I am not sure if Mitsubishi is doing anything about it. You should call and find out.

Just to clear thing up, a DMD board is the one that controls the image projected on the TV screen (it acts like the brain of the TV), when a TV has white spots of any kind that means that its past its life span, either by a burned circuit or a capacitor. It’s a lot easier to buy one that to physically inspect the board and test all the circuits one by one.
