Zenith Model Z52DC2D Turns off

Postby gdpag0119 » Tue Oct 28, 2014 9:44 pm

I just replaced the lamp on my Zenith Model Z52DC2D. Worked fine for approximately 3 hours one day. Now after about 45 mins of operation the lamp indicator light will flash red three or four times and the tv will shut off. After a few minutes I can turn the tv back on but after only 5 to 10 minutes the same thing happens.

Hello!

It seems like I always begin asking the same question, did you replace this with an OEM Lamp? (most DLP Televisions use Philips lamps which are the best out there)

If so, then you might be experiencing a bad ballast, this is what powers up the lamp, it is common to find for they fail at least once during a tvs lifespan

Please let me know I hope I can help, heres a trouble shooting wizard that might be of some help!

I did NOT purchase a Philips Bulb. It is an OSRAM. I purchased it through ebay and am sending it back for a refund. Ebay does have a different seller listing a Philips replacement bulb part #6912B22010A which matches exactly the number on the lamp housing in my television. It is of course, almost twice as much, but if you say the Philips is that much better than others I will order it. When it first powers on the television works great with a terrific picture for approximately 35-45 minutes. Then the screen will go dark, with sound for a very few seconds, then the lamp indicator light flashes red 3 or 4 times and the tv shuts off. Will turn back on almost immediately and play for about 10 minutes then repeat the same sequence as related. Can do that 2 or 3 times, but each time there is a shorter time operation time and the picture starts to get jumpy. All the fans seem to be operating, and there are no unusual noises during operation or when powering on and off. Appreciate your help very much.

It only did this one time after it turned itself off and I restarted it 4 times in a row. I may have described it incorrectly. It wasn't so much jumpy as the picture was not as bright and it appeared to be fading in and out. I did call 1-800-281-8860 as referred and they suggested I may have a weak ballast board. They said I must remove the ballast board from the television to get the part number for replacement. They also gave me directions on how to perform a "reset". I did follow their instructions, but the television continued to perform as before the reset. I have not removed the ballast board yet to access the part number. Thanks for your continued assistance.

Funny I was going to suggest the same thing, I think the kind of flickering was also a lamp unable to ignite.. Let me know when you get the ballast, you can find some step by step guides here:

Hope it helps! if not then post!

All the links and instructions are for a Samsung television. I have a Zenith Model Z52DC2D. Are there any links with the same detailed pics of step by step instructions?
