zenith z52dc2d keeps turning off

When I first turn the tv on for the day it turns off after a few seconds. It will keep turning off and so far if I keep turning it back on it will eventually stay on. The red heat indicator light also comes on when it is turning off. This indicator also eventually goes away. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

This issue occured about 6 weeks ago. Since that time I took an old lamp I had saved from when the TV timer informed me to replace the lamp, about a year ago, and replaced the lamp that was in the TV with this old lamp and this corrected the problem. The lamp that was in the TV never failed to come on and the TV timer had been reset. I don't know why the symptoms I had would be the lamp, but I haven't had a problem since. Thank you for responding.
