KDF-E60A20 went dead, Power LED blinks red!!

KDF-E60A20 Power LED on front panel blinks 3 times in red. I was watching it when the picture went dead. No picture, no sound. I pulled out the lamp, called around, was told it should be replaced (3 1/2 years old) even though it wasn't broken. I replaced it. Same symptoms. Owners manual says the display unit needs servicing, pleas call Sony service. Would appreciate any feedback. Thank you. Bill

Do you hear any strange noise? Any clicking or something else?

No, I was watching at the tme it failed and there was no clicking or popping or anything at all.

Turned out to be the GM board, adjacent to the power supply.
