Sony 60xbr800

Postby extremebubba » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:49 pm

I have a sony 60 xbr800, I just replaced the bulb(old one was blown) and the tv will still not work. When I try to turn it on the red standby light flashes for about 45 seconds then the lamp light flashes. I spoke with the place I ordered the lamp from and they suggest I try the ballast. Are there any way to check the ballast and is this the problem?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Normally when the ballast start to fail it makes a constant clicking noise, another symptom is that you install a new lamp; it doesn’t have the wattage to turn it on.
There is no simple way to test the ballast; you would need take it out of the tv and have a special volt meter checking all of the voltage inputs and outputs for the correct voltage. If you know a reliable and honest technician tell him about this otherwise you’ll have to bit the bullet and take your chances with one you don’t know.
