Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

My husband and I bought a new entertainment center this weekend and were moving the TV to the new unit. While moving it, we placed the TV where I could dust off the back. Once we had the TV in its new place, we turned on the TV and there was a black streak across the screen, it looks like an arch. You can still see the picture behind the black spot. It also looks like a piece of dust, but we could be wrong.

Our model is a PT-50DL54J.

Any suggestions on how to fix it would be great! Oh and we pulled out the lamp and checked it, it looks good. We replaced it a few months back, and it doesn't look like anything was damaged.

If I need to, I can take a picture when I get home from work.

Yeah a picture is going to help a lot.

mmhmm.. This is the first thing i would do, since you clean that TV and "hunt" all of the dust bunnies. It could be probable that maybe some of the dust went to the lens from the lamp or lens from the proyector.

I can suggest you to take out the enclosure and clean the glass of the lamp. Maybe that will help out.

In the meantime, what do you suggest to clean the lamp with? It does have this kinda "haze" on it, but other than that it looks fine.

well...it looks like a HUGE HAIR...or EYELASH.

mmmhmmm...

My recommendation. take out the enclosure, clean the glass from the lamp.
Also it could be that the problem is in the optical lens or optical block.


I can suggest you to clean everything with a can of compressed air
you know, the cans that you use to clean the computers, that could help out...or you can call a tech .____.
