I replaced the bulb in my Magnavox 50ML8105D/17 with an OEM Phillips bulb. The set came on with picture and sound for about 10-15 seconds and then the bulb shut off followed by a red lamp indicator light. This repeated for about 3 attempts. I removed and reinserted the assembly and the same thing continues. Fan below the bulb and fan near the left rear vent are both operating. I've had the TV for about 3 years and this is the first bulb replacement. Any ideas?

You can check the lamp for physical damage.
1. White dots on the outer shell.
2. Brown marks. (burn marks)
3. Lens cracked
Do keep in mind that the lamp is doing it's job. (lighting up)
If the lamp isn't staying on the ballast board most not be sending the correct voltage to the lamp therefore lamp is not able to stay lit.
