Cooling fan or Color Wheel.

Postby Connorpapa » Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:56 pm

Model #52HMX95 - I recently replaced the lamp for the 3rd time in 5 years. No other problems... After viewing for 3 hrs. for the first time(the TV had not been in use for 10 months) , we turned it off and the cooling fan came on, but then it sounded like maybe it was dirty and started making noise. I unplugged the unit immediately. I suspect there is at least some dust in there. How do you access the fans to determine if they need to be cleaned and/or replaced?

Thanks for the quick reply. With the combination of the noise and "some" discoloration on screen, would it be safe to assume the color wheel is close to the end of it's life?
Also:
1. Can it be accessed fairly easily, once the back is removed?

2. What is the approximate cost for a replacement color wheel?

Definitely easy if you the color wheel with the enclosure for around $99.00, from discount-merchant.com.
prices differ through web-sites.

Great information. If the replacement parts are of good quality, that's a great price. Any other info you have regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!
