Any clue where the DLP chip is located....

Postby pantoni » Tue Jul 19, 2011 5:48 pm

......in the light engine of a 65HM167? I'm guessing it's in the rectangular metal box that has the smaller fan attached to it. But how to get in there to replace the DLP chip?

Since I can not find a TV parts replacer in my area to work on it, I decided to tackle this one myself. I have a replacement DLP chip on order, and have the light engine in front of me. Any help (or photos) would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!

The DLP chip is located on a (most of the times metal enclosed) DMD board which sits atop of the light engine right below the projector lens. It has a harness, usually a metal clip holding it not unlike a PCUs possessor, it is very laborious to replace but not difficult. I am sure someone on this blog has posted pics before... I will look for them..
